South Africa, USA via HONG KONG
All Hi-Tech Superformance and Shelby Cobra's are now being shipped from South Africa to USA by way of Hong Kong. After you have pre-paid your 40K-60K up front be prepared to wait and wait and wait. Around 6/8 weeks in all for the boat to get here. Then, if all goes well, another couple of weeks for it to be delivered to Shelby Distribution. This extra couple of months of "transit" time is NOT disclosed to buyers unit after weeks of anguish causing near mental breakdowns! NOW YOU KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT.

Sorry, but that is NOT correct! ALL SPFs do NOT tranship via Hong Kong. It may be that the container bound for the West Coast with your car did go that way, but others do not.
I have a container due today that was direct Port Elizabeth to Newark, NJ. The shipping companies are "conspiring" to raise rates, they have cut back on container availability, slowed the ships to save fuel and reduced the number of sailing dates. This has increased the transit time by days to possibly add a week or so. The time from the container being "stuffed" to my door is less than 30 days.
I am sure you are waiting on your car and the waiting time is unbearable, but a blanket statement that "all cars go to Hong Kong" does not reflect the real situation and serves no one.
I hope you are "burnin' gas and crushin' bugs" with your car soon!!!!!

Perhaps this is a west-coast vs east-coast destination issue?

I agree with the container availability and fewer sailing dates. Here in Houston, we get them one of two ways; at the port straight from SA, or by rail from the east coast. Either way, slow as heck!

Richard, Hopefully "your ship will come in soon" I am curious if the dealers are not keeping rollers on hand anymore? I had 3-4 to pick from that were available right away when I got my csx. Maybe the economy forcing delares to not keep them on hand until ordered and paid for?

So do, some don't.
The cost of inventory has reduced the on hand" selection of rollers as well as the current economy not helping at all.
The current SPF dealer group is trying to increase availability and the factory can provide chassis in a reasonable length of time for special specifications.
It is only getting better......

With all due respect Sir, this information came from Deborah at Superformance. The shipping time according to her is around 6 weeks. If she has misinformed me or I misunderstood, sorry for the error.

Maybe things have changed or they handle the Shelby brand sales differently, but most dealers do not require you to pay the full price just to order a car. Once the car lands in the US, you should have the opportunity to inspect/accept the car. I put a down payment on mine, then paid the balance upon delivery.
The lead time for a CSX car is always going to be longer...it adds to the mystery and legend of the brand.

This is not a 100% a superformance or Shelby distribution issue , I remember a car being delayed for air transport , due to giraffes. If you want something custom and special, be prepared to wait.
Plus the economy ; read credit markets have made everything a biatch unless it's cash,

My Hurricane went the opposite way, Missouri to LA to Singapore to Indonesia, shipped end of October and arrived in Jakarta mid-May....some "odd" customs issues but I can sure appreciate the pain of waiting. Mama always said good things were worth waiting for.
