Final Roll Call for Mags
If you're on the list or considering Magnesium Cobra II wheels:
Fran said that he had, "like 7 or 8" on his list. He's looking to sell 25 sets (100 wheels) and he doesn't want to sit with stock.
So, some have mentioned interest in buying multiple sets. Darren spoke of 2 or 3 sets. I will do 2. What'saCobra mentioned 2 (although the timing is now bad) and ACademic mentioned maybe buying a set on speculation.
Is this list current? PLEASE RESPOND! We can put this to rest soon either way.
1. rodneym 2
2. RodKnock (you still in?)
3. N2VENOM (mentioned up to 3. Whoops! Was that a private PM? LOL)
4. 601HP (haven't heard from you in a while)
5. Sal Gerace (?)
6. Lew Ledyard (Did you buy private set?)
7. WhatsaCobra (mentioned 2 sets but needed by May. Where are we at?)
8. CSX289 (Mentioned 4 fronts)
9. ACademic (mentioned buying set on speculation. Only one set? LOL)
10. ?
We have a potential of 13 sets from this laborious thread. I still have to see what names might match Fran's list, and compare. We could have 20, which would certainly surprise Fran.
Lets get a roll call and wrap this up.
Before Patrickt's green light pops on.

Will this thread ever end? Rodney, there a few names from this old thread that Lew started that aren't on the list above.
Updated Magnesium Halibrand thread
I thought Patrick would "put on red light."
Am I still interested? Eh, why not. For old times sake.

"Echoes of interest" grow faint when it's time to get out the ol' checkbook.

Alright. Our final hurrah is shaping up.
Brettco, where the hell were you???
Lew, good to hear from you again!!!
Rokndad is in now in Corvette land.
If anyone knows Xracerbob, Cobra (he must be an early member with an ID like that), CSX3189, or Full Throttle Al, please lead them here. I know some of these guys were contacted prior, or attempted to anyways but the thread is unwieldy now, so I'm not going back. I'll try PM'ing these guys now.
We've read all the smart axx comments, negativity and natter. Let's just stick to business here and grow this list. I WILL contact Fran Wed or Thu with our list and be done with it.
Also, if you're on the list, PM ME WITH YOUR REAL NAME! I'll keep it private from the threads and just use it to compare lists with Fran.

I'm gonna sneak out. The new pricing separated the princes from paupers, and I'm no prince.

I was sitting back watching this because in my opinion this is NEVER going to happen. The funny thing is when High Tech was finishing up my car we went way out of her way to make sure we got the aluminum wheels because the magnesium wheels were such a nightmare to keep nice! I was on the first list with Lew and I was waiting for somebody to track me down and beg me to join in. I would say the only real hope for this is if kirkhams take some interest in making wheels. I'm surprised they don't.

Rodney, I'm still in if we can keep it to the original price point of $4K per set. Let my order be the swing vote when you get really close. Thanks for all the hard work that you do here, too. You would think a small crowd of guys willing to throw down $1K per wheel would get a manufacturer's attention (and in this economy)?!? Sheesh! Maybe we should be working a group deal to buy the molds instead.

I talked to M&A Castings about that very subject. The new wheel molds would be about $10,000 or $1,000 per person if we were to get 10 people. And we would own the molds.
Another $30,000-$35,000 +/- ($500-$600 per wheel) and we would have the minimum run of 15 brand new sets of magnesium Cobra wheels.
More sets of wheels and the per unit cost goes down.
Now, if Darren could stop building his flip top and become a wheel magnate.

Is that just CAST or CAST and MACHINED???? A rather large difference.
