Default MSD 6AL Digital 6425

Is anyone running the MSD Digital 6AL box (p/n 6425) and what has been your experience? I don't know how long it as been out or if it is out in the market but I was considering buying one. I currently have an MSD Ready To Run distributor on my 351W and am not running an ignition with it.

If you know anything about this ignition I would appreciate your comments.

Beasley,

I drive my Cobra on long distance rallies. I believe in redunduncy. So I have two MSD 6AL's. If one quits, I flip the switch and keep going with the other one. Same thing with coils and electric fuel pumps. If I could, I would have a backup distributor and carburetor. I can't, so I just carry parts for those. So, I would recommend that you buy two of them and wire them with a double pole double throw switch. If one fails, switch over and send the bad one in for repair. MSD is rally good about fixing their products, but no one is perfect.

I have the MSD Digital 6. I had to replace it after 10 years but, other than that, it worked fine. I like the built in rev limiters and start retard.

I have the 6AL2 programable. It's been perfect and a PC connects allows a lot of "fine tuning" if you want..... My build site link in my signature.
