New tires and the cost
I just put a set of Nitto NT01s on my Backdraft and thought I would publish the deal for comparisons/info. Zero advertising, just the facts. Hope it helps someone.
I ordered the NT01s from America's Tire online. Free shipping and no tax, shipped to CA. They have local dealers here (called Discount Tire in CA because another tire company had a similar name prior).
Rears 315-35-17 $218 each
Fronts 235-40-17 $163 each
Heat Cycle $15 each
Local mounting and balance by same company $20 each (that's part of the deal)
So, I'm out $902 all in and ready to go. It was a much better price than I could personally find anywhere else, maybe you luck will be better.
Now for the tires. They do look great on the car the way I have it set up. The ride is very good at 22 psi and I might be able to push this up, time will tell. Traction on the rear from cold is very good. When warmed up a bit the bite feels like it could break things if your not careful. I wasn't really sure about this DOT road race tire on the street from cold and the low profile sidewall, but man it works well.
Downside. I'll stay out of the rain and wet and can do that here. Not much in the way of grooves. And, they seem to be throwing more rocks inside the fenders. Not all that bad, but I have gone from no sound to hearing a tiny bit of tinks and dinks here and there. I'm thinking of looking at a thick rock guard spray inside the fenders.
The up side is on my sb FI 550+fwhp, second gear now hooks with zero wheel spin and she just rips straight as an arrow. The car is much, much safer.
This isn't a recommendation for the NT01s since I only have 100 miles or so on them. But if you are looking for something in this size besides a drag radial, this might be an option.
