For those of you building or waiting for your new Cobra, HERE is your engine!
I posted this in the "For Sale" area again tonight, but for those of you who do not visit that area, I figured I'd post it here as well. I had a buyer for the engine, but before we could complete the transaction he fell ill and could not go forward. Sooooo......here it is again. There are pictures in the classified ad in the "For Sale" section here on CC. I tried to put the pictures here, but when I went to upload them into my gallery it said they were too large. Sorry......
Brand new aluminum 482" Sideoiler stroker engine
This engine was built by Tony Carey on Long Island, NY. It has never installed in a car. It's fresh, incredibly powerful and ready to go. I spared absolutely no expense in building this engine, it truly does have the best of everything on it and in it. Tony photo documented the entire build. That would be available to any potential buyer. Tony has been building almost exclusively FE's for 40 years, he's the FE guru here in the NY area. He's a preferred engine builder for ERA Cobras as well. Some of the guys here on the forum who have been around a while are familiar with him. ERA is very familiar with him as well. If you're waiting on that ERA, Kirkham, Shelby, Hurricane, SPF, or whatever brand you chose Cobra or GT40 to be delivered, this is your engine!
Brand new Genesis aluminum sideoiler block - fully machined, torque plates, line bored, etc....
Eagle stroker crank
Eagle H beam rods, upgraded ARP bolts
Diamond forged custom made pistons, 10.5:1 compression ratio
Aviaid Cobra oil pan and windage tray
Custom stock looking dipstick and tube
Melling blueprinted HV oil pump
ARP oil pump drive
Original Ford pulleys
Original Ford alternator brackets
Edelbrock aluminum water pump - Edelbrock name milled off and media blasted, looks perfect
Remote oil filter mount and kit installed, steel braided lines
Full roller timing chain
Stainless engine bolt kit
Keith Craft Racing custom grind solid roller cam and lifters - 674"lift, 255/262 @ .050 dur, 112 deg sep.
Keith Craft Racing Stage II CNC ported Edelbrock Heads, stainless valves, upgraded titanium retainers
Comp Cams/Keith Craft Racing matched valve springs
All machine work and assembly on heads meticulously done by Keith Craft Racing
Edelbrock Performer RPM intake, port matched to heads by Keith Craft racing
"Edelbrock" and "Performer RPM" milled off of intake and media blasted, looks perfect as if never there
Quick Fuel custom built carb, 950 CFM, equipped with new LeMans bowls
Custom built 1x4 fuel log
MSD distributor custom curved by Keith Craft Racing
New MSD ignition wires, black with all printing on wires removed
Distributor gear matched to cam by Keith Craft Racing
Harland Sharp bushed rockers, H. Sharp shafts and H. Sharp end stands
ARP head bolts
Smiths pushrods
Chrome pentroof valve covers with breathers, PCV valve in rear of intake
Acton Custom removable top turkey pan
There was lots of custom work done on this engine to give it a very original looking flavor. I would never sell it except I am now facing very serious health issues and can no longer proceed forward with the project as planned. The engine is currently at Tony's shop on Long Island, NY. Again, it's fresh, never installed, and is has never left his shop.
This engine was not dynoed, but Keith Craft, who supplied most of the engine parts, builds this combo often and he informed me back at purchase time that with the combo of parts that he sold me it routinely dynos over 620HP.
I lost track as I shot past the $22,000 mark of how much I have sunk into this engine, it's actually well north of that. The parts alone can't be bought for my asking price for the entire engine. To contact me, Email is best. Email me at DMarotta737@Gmail.com. I monitor my email regularly, so I should get back to you within the day.
This engine is available immediately, and it's ready to go. It was designed and built for a Cobra, with originality and awe inspiring performance in mind. Some parts shown, such as bellhousing, clutch, flywheel, starter and surge tank are not included.
Price is $16,500, and it's available for immediate delivery. As I said above, you can't even buy the parts for that amount. Thanks for looking.
Doug

This is really a very nice deal. From the pics, it looks like everything is on there from the QT bellhousing up to the surge tank, removable turkey pan, starter, alternator, the works (those "ancillary" items tend to add up). All quality. Maybe just a note as to whether it's ever even been started. I would guess not. I don't believe you could duplicate this for under $20k.

Check the fine print. Still a screaming good deal without those extras. Hope you are feeling better soon, too.

Yep, sure 'nuf. I bet they are "negotiable" though. ACademic - if you're at the point where you're putting together parts for your build this is something you should probably jump on if you have your mind set on a non-fia car.

You could probably look all year and not find a better engine at anywhere close to this price. Almost makes me think about a back-up......but I'm not going to have that conversation with my wife.

I spent more than that on my original 63 cast iron block. I wish that deal had been available when I was looking.

It has been started and run in at the engine builders. I don't have a total run time, I'd peg it at one hour, perhaps as much as two. No more than that. Just to make sure that all was well, no leaks, etc,. It runs great, no leaks whatsoever, it sounds like a beast.

The price on this monster rotational device IS stunning. Almost makes me want to get it and then buy the Cobra for it later! Ahh, to be back in the green again! 7 come 11!?
I personally see it in a light weight EM or ERA, then of course a Kirkam but alas I don't think I am on the Kirkhams generosity list this year. But, then again in my Daughters '45 GMC streetrod pick up would be pretty cool!
Somebody grab this and put me out of my night time misery!

How could you spend that much money and not have it dynoed? A dyno would cost $500 and let everyone know what they are getting...

That piece would be the ultimate engine for my (or anyone else's) ERA, but I just can't see me writing that check at this time. Good luck with the sale.

Is the engine in Houston? What is the difference between this one and KC 482for $17300 besides the $800. Not being a smarta$$ but I am interested but the price looks good but not good enough to store for awhile.

Doug, I'm afraid that in today's economic market you're going to have to slash it further, or let it sit.

The engine is at Long Island, NY. I'd have to look at Keith's website to see what he includes at that price.

Thanks, Patrick.
As with everything, there is always a bit of room to maneuver, but unfortunately I'm not going to be able to give it away. Having looked at the engine mentioned above, there are many additional upgraded parts in my engine as well as additional custom type work. I'd certainly be willing to talk privately with anyone who may be interested. Thanks for your input.

Doug,
Very similar to my KC496 I did last fall except I have stage III heads but also solid roller etc and mine made 681HP at the crank. Extremely Fair asking price with the upgrades and extras like the turkey pan. You might consider putting it on Ebay and a couple other performance sites like the FE site.
