Supercharged V12 Mercedes Powered Cobra
In the March 2011 Hot Rod, page 30, there is such a Cobra that was built in Sweden. Besides the different engine, with a full width rear wing and roll bar, a front spoiler/splitter, and 18 & 19 inch wheels, it may not be how we would have done it here, but you have to admire the guy for his "originality" in using what you got. And with a matching color GT40 and Pantera in the garage, you have to give him credit for doing it his way. Definitely stepping to sidepipes of a different rumble.

I liked the car, but I wonder why it smoked so much on start up. Is there something unique about a supercharged 12 cylinder MB that would make it smoke on start up?

Here's the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UgU023Yxy5s
If you could never understand the "herdy-gerdy fleefin-floofin" Chef from the Muppets, you might want to fast forward to the 1min 33sec mark to see the start up
I was wondering if it was steam on a freezing cold morning, but it certainly hangs around like oil smoke...

Incredible sight non the less. One that always inspired me was seeing the Cobra with a 427" Cammer all aluminum polished. Now that was some serious eye candy.

Not my cup of tea for a Cobra but quite an engineering task to put that engine and exhaust in a Cobra.

In the HOT ROD article, it has a hood in the photos.
I don't know about the smoke on start-up, but in the HOT ROD article it mentions that he has an overheating problem, and that he's determined that the problem is internal to the engine, so he's getting ready to pull it back out.
Again, per the article, no one makes a blower mount/intake for a V-12 MB, so he made his own! Lots of engineering going on there!!

Awesome. Love to see it on the track. I wonder if it has a hood to cover up that monster.
