superformance side mirror on backdraft
Has anyone mounted a superformance side mirror on the fender of a backdraft?
I would like to purchase one because I do not like the look of the backdraft side mirror mounted on the window frame but want to make sure it will work before having one shipped to me.
Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin:
FWIW I have fender mirrors mounted on my ERA that are very usable but they're not in the stock position. In stock position the fender mirrors are pretty useless.
A couple of things to consider before committing to the fender mirrors. Is there any sub structure in the fender that will prevent them from being mounted where they need to be to work? Can you mount them is a position that isn't too far off of the stock location to keep them from looking weird?
In my case I sat in the car and had someone else move the driver side mirror to where it was usable and then had the passenger side mirror held in the same place on the other side. It took a little moving around to get both in the right place but not a whole bunch. I also went with convex glass in both units which helped.
Here's a photo that sort of shows what they look like.

Very cool.
Thanks Jay!
I like the look of the fender mounted mirror much more and I was hoping that they were more functional also. My side mirror (mounted on the windshield frame) doesnt seem to adjust out far enough. I have to kind of hang my head out the side a bit to see behind me with it.

Same problem with the fender mirror. Really all of the mirrors are usless unless they come out with an anti vibrate function like on video cameras.

It can be adjusted out, takes some fiddling. But it can be aimed where you need it.

It was the only car we ever did that the customer requested that mirror... out of 130 or so?
