I voted for #2 but I think #5 is more realistic.
EDIT: now that I look more closely at the vote, #4 looks really appealing also. I shoulda taken my time voting.

The Ferrari is unbeatable. Drag race or road course. I know. I'm a traitor.
Tom can play with the A/C, sip a latte, locate his favorite radio station and text his friend in the other lane and still beat his buddy three times.

Maybe Blitzforce can borrow my car (for a small fee), if nobody tells Tommy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AQtmrxaRVTg

I don't get that at all. So you're only here because you can't afford a Ferrari?

Thanks max. Yes and yes. Some threads tend to inspire my creative juices. We've seen many challenges over the years - manufacturers, members etc., but this one looks like it might actually happen. Kudos to Tommy and blitz if they pull it off!

That depends a lot more, on how the car is set up, and the driver's skills.
Now of course, this isn't a cobra, but it is a skilled driver, with only 220RWHP
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pSFxXId6xYg
A ferrari, is going to end up the same as the vette's, viper's, lambo's, BMW's etc, if the car is not set up right, and the driver is not skilled.
Likewise, in watching this old 427 powered ford battleship, being hammered around Nordschleife (and winning)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UD48OX1wu14
makes my point that, no matter how well engineered and dummy proof a car is made, it doesn't make up for driver skill, or track prep.
Anyway I'm quite sure Jackie Stewart is ready to trade the ford cosworth in his garage, for that 3" diameter gold pendant and chain.
Have fun!

Im so hung over right now, and all i can do is lay in bed and read this bull****. I would like to vote for cobra driver dies like a ****ing hero crashing into the ferrari after the race at 140. I'm just trying to **** up your line when you wanna buy more action. Be rest assured I am going to drive my car monday, get off your fat ass and find out when we can use the track and how much it costs to rent. I know u have a secretary, put her in-charge of getting all the info. And while you are at it ask them what the deal is with the road course, that would be a race that would actually involve some driving skill even in your driving computer, and u will have none of that.

This is a really entertaining thread.
Lets make this really simple. How many of you have gone to an amateur drag race and seen a European super car do well? And please, don't post those Youtube videos that speak the opposite of what I am going to say, this isn't about exceptions. I go to these races all of the time; one here in Fontana (I live only a few miles away from the Autoclub Speedway) who has amateur drag races all the time. And then there is the Irwindale Speedway which has open drag racing every Thursday night.
No super-car, none of them, not one time has gotten under 12.5. Not once. They come and go like a cold fart in the wind. A Ferrari, powder blue from someone wealthy - 13. A Porsche from a very successful poker player - 13.5. Lambos -13. Masarattis, Bentleys even an Aston Martin - in Southern California you see it all. You have very wealthy guys with a great deal of money willing to put their pride on the line and each time their car does lousy. We have seen in over and over again. You can take the Ferrari stats and blow them where the sun does not shine, those are only a foundation in which the car can perform to in a perfect world, perfect driver, perfect tires, humidity, nerves of still and countless runs with the Ferrari Pit team tuning it after each run for optimization.
That ain't going to happen here.
If there is a European Car that does well, it was with a professional driver and are often tuned by the manufacturer or someone familiar within tuning the car to save face. How many times have you seen the crew on the side line tuning the car on TV? I have been to many amateur level drag races - not once have I seen a super car do well. Slicks, whatever - they and their drivers suck and usually get blown away by someone with a car tuned for Drag Racing. So please, lets stop bringing up how great the Ferrari is. I know they must be great cars, but never have I seen them do well once in a drag race. Everyone loves going up against the rich and famous with these super cars at every event, and you can see the appeal.
First - they suck as drivers. They are too dependent on what the sales person who told them about the car and what magazine statistics stated. Second - they consistently lose matches, over and over again. And lastly, isn't it great to turn on a Poker Match and say "you see that guy? He just bought a $300k Porsche and I kicked his ass twice today with my Mustang." Love it.
Tommy, you have everything to lose and nothing (other than harassing your buddy) to win. Win, and your several hundred thousand (guessing) Ferrari beat a kit car with 50 year old technology. Wow. Good for you. I hope you don't sprain a finger shifting it...
Lose....oh Tommy. Lose. Ha ha ha.... Lose, even one round - just one round! And you guessed it - you just got beat by a aluminum kit car with, you guessed it, 50 year old racing technology....Oh my, you better have your stuff together.
Blitzforce - you need to splash some water on your face and get back into the game. Tommy here is just a terrible as you are, his car is not built for dragging, it has no advantage other than transmission-shift which is only as good as its driver. There are too many people here basing things off of fairy tale stats that Tommy knows he cannot obtain. Stop this talk about going out like a hero, WTF is that about? Pull up your panties and remember Tommy here will be nervous, under a great deal of pressure and has talked to many people who have witnessed my observation. He knows he has everything to lose.
Remember, no one is going to see you as a hero for losing or crashing. You'll just look like another guy with too much horsepower and too much money. We have seen them come, we have seen them go.
If you practice a shifting technique and setup the car right, you can win it. By the time Tom gets his sh_t together, the race is over.

For Tommy ........
Several members on this site have discussed the drivers skills as being the main edge given the cars are both capable of winning, so my question is this: does this bet preclude either guy having an substitute driver and if so does that modify the bet?
While I fully appreciate this is one big hoot for us all and we have demonstrated our enthusiasm in our various posts I gotta think after reading your bio y'all got a lot to lose if you crash and burn, thus having a proxy driver is a realistic proposal, given neither of you guys appear to be seasoned drivers. Big gonads and high testosterone levels, notwithstanding.
Cheers, John, AKA, tin-man

All - Sadly for the cars' reputations, we're the drivers. I'll admit that not only have I never been on a drag strip or a track, I've never been above 120 and that was once, in the 458. No one has to fear my driving.
Here's a legitimate question. Is there any value to burning out and heating up street tires before this race for grip? Tx. -tg
