Default Exhaust Collector Sealing

Has anyone tried this; http://www.superlogics.com/adhesives...5/259-1499.htm as a seal/gasket between the primary header and the collector?

Probably a lot more than you need. Remember that some day day you'll want to take that apart.

I use simple clear bath tub silicone sealant. Seems to be working fine, it's cheap, and it's clean.

I don't think there is much tub sealant left after the engine comes up to temperature. It is only good upto ~350F.

I have used "copper gasket" and had good luck with it.

I believe the true key to getting a good seal is making sure the surface is flat. I have used a standard block and sandpaper. Color the surface with a black sharpie, dand until the black goes away.

Use the Red (high heat) RTV silicone sealant.... you can get it at any auto supply shop. Just clean both halves, put a bead around, bolt it up and let dry for 24 hour.... you good to go. A good portion will squeeze out.... don't touch it until it dries.... the cut it away.

Actually, the clear tub sealant is working quite well. Not just at the collecter flange, but on the header flange as well. It's probably got about 12-15 heat cycles, and 1000 miles.

I recall seeing a post on this site where someone had success with a paste that Harley guys use on their exhaust. I'm sure that its not as cheap as the tub sealant but should work as well.
