Gooding to offer early early Cobra at Amelia Island auction
Back when I was first interested in Cobras, over 30 years ago, the big blocks were about $17,000 and the small blocks about $12,000. It seems for years the big blocks always sold for more than the small blocks except for race cars with documented histories. So I will be following this Gooding auction in March at Amelia Island where they list the following:
"1962 AC Cobra. Originally finished in steel grey over blue, this early Cobra was the 1962 Paris and London Show car and today remains a historically-authentic, well-documented and well-kept example. This AC Cobra bears an interesting SCCA racing pedigree and has been cared for by one owner for the past 35 years. Gooding & Company specialists recommend this car for various touring events, including the Copperstate 1000. Its estimate is $450,000 - $550,000"
Their listing doesn't include the CSX number so I will be curious to see if it's the same early Cobra offered by other auctions in the last couple years.
