Barry Grant News
|
I kinda want him to come back in the future. I have a couple of Barry Grant products on my car.
|
So far Mike, it looks like you're the only guy that gives a hoot.

I just went to Jegs and Summit and Barry Grant=BG doesn't com up as a brand they carry any longer. I have a fuel filter and a diaphram adjustable fuel log. I haven't had any problem with any of it but am concerned what if? I don't usually buy a item and all the parts to repair them at the time of purchase. I'm concerned about future replacement filter elements, and the diaphram in the fuel pressure regulater portion of the fuel log. I have a lot tied up incorporating it in my carb setup. I didn't find any thing I needed on ebay either.
|
I wouldn't sweat it too much. IF the fuel log went sour both Mallory and Moroso make in-line pressure regulating fuel logs that will swap in place. I used the Moroso as it was half the price and a better design IMO. Can't help you with the filter. If you can't find a replacement element the Fram HPG1 is what I've used for years. Again, half the price and readily available. It looks like Jegs and Summit both new the jig was up in early 2010 or even earlier.

This is interesting.
I was thinking of swapping out my Holley 660's for some Barry Grant carb's. The tuner I have used in the past recommended against them. At least in his experience he had not had good luck with them. Maybe he was right. |
I've done lots of BG Demon carbs---for a while they were full of small chips but after cleaning out the stuff the carbs were a good base for my work---loved the idle eze feature as it was a handy way of accomplishing one of the things I did----sorry to see them go---
|
Sad day
Demon carbs far superior design Where Holley carbs should have been today Summit and jegs used to carry at one time Rumor has it that Holley approached summit and jegs with ultimatum If they continue to carry demon Barry grant products they won't be allowed to sell Holley products As you know holleys product line is a lot bigger than just carbs That's how the big guy gets rid of it high quality little guy competition Don't be surprised if Holley buys out Barry grants assets |
I would have to disagree. I don't think BG has anything Holley wants. The only feature I would give BG applause for was idle-eze but other than that fugetaboutit. And that was brought on IMO because their carbs were a nightnmare to tune.

Adjustable everything is right
Right down to removable and replaceable venturis sizes Way ahead of it's time And Holley new it I've owned many holleys and never had one run as good as my first mighty demon Performance , gas milage and tunability are all top notch |
There are many people that are happy with their Demons. Nothing wrong with that. There are just as many if not more that had a less than satisfactory experience. That's a fact. Those issues and their lack of solvability for many owners really hurt BG at a time when they couldn't afford to lose any more market share.
|
They had some good ideas, but they were junk. Bad quality, bad castings, and bad tech support. I knew many people that had other BG products and they ended up selling them or throwing them int he trash.
Leaking gaskets where the pump had to be sent back to the factory for a rebuild because BG wouldn't sell the gasket. Then 6 months later, it leaked again and they wouldn't cover it. Garbage. |
My Speed Demon has served me well for over 10 years. Maybe because I got it long ago.

I'll call bull**** on this one. Especialy since Summit and Jegs both still carry a full line of Barry Grant items. If they were going to remove a product line, they usually do so overnight and sell off the remaining inventory to other jobbers......Best you do not post "rumors" in the future as it makes you look foolish.........

Hey Bill,
Tell us how you really feel....... Warm regards, Roscoe |
I've tuned alot of carbs and currently own a Pro-system. I agree the problem was quality assurance with debris (which was corrected) in the metering blocks and body. I never had a problem tuning them. Maybe a little sensitive but not a problem.

I just called Summit. BG stopped selling to them 3.5 years ago. The guy wouldn't elaborate or maybe just didn't know.
