Wonder why it's not a tight lash lobe like the lobe catalog says it is?

I tested the nitriding out by letting Ellie gnaw on one of the lobes. It looked like it came out just fine so you should be all set. What is your preferred shipping address?

You sure you don't wanna test it in your engine first? Wake that old girl up....

Well I have to say you picked a very fine cam (even Chas marvelled at it), but, as for me, I prefer to let sleeping dogs lie. I'll have my elves ship the cam out to you today. If you subtract .006 off the card lash for aluminum heads and iron block you're a good bit tighter than the specs for my "old style" original cam in an alum/iron combo. Perhaps .014 is what Bullet refers to as "tight lash" in an alum/iron application such as yours.

Lash is usually stated as hot lash. Their lobe catalog stated .011", just wondering why they changed the lobes.

You would subtract around .006" off the card to start cold (with iron block, aluminum heads)....they suggest that you end up at .020" hot.....little far from the .011".

Default Keep Your Eye Out for the UPS Man

OK, now that it's on its way to you I can start ragging on you about getting your ass in gear to build your engine. Soooooo, just how far have you gotten on the block?

I think I would keep the ragging to a minimum since you were the one that volunteered to buy the cam.

Somehow, I doubt that Chas is that conniving.....

My core 390 is stripped down, the block is sitting here waiting to be tumbled/baked/tanked.

I've been swamped with other engines and orders...

Oh don't kid yourself. Ol' Chas has gotten me in to more trouble than you would ever guess. A certain lost weekend in Bangkok immediately comes to mind....

Brent- Don't forget to use the cheap Federal Mogul bearings for the initial lobe removal process. Put the good coated tri-metals in after the block wash and the hydraulic roller install.

I told you a DOZEN or so pages ago that accepting this bone-brained offer would put you in an uncomfortable and ANNOYING position. With engine orders coming out your wazoo, you certainly didn't need charity with all the BS attached, from a self-imagined Big Operator.
He got more advertising for his 'School For Asses' than you did for engine building.
Never make this mistake again...

Wow, nineteen pages and all we've discussed is the block, which has been purchased, but not yet prepped, and the SFT cam, which has finally been manufactured and almost delivered to the engine owner.

This could be the longest engine build thread in history. Can't wait for the next installment: Chapter 3: Installing The Freeze Plugs
