new to this... need some info
Well I got the bug a few weeks back and am considering to purchase this kit... is the kit good or bad ..thinking of this because its 30min drive from my house .. I have no experience to building a cobra kit but have 20 years in the auto collision trade.. Thanks for the help... This kit is from buffalo NY here is the link

Team400, You will have your ups and downs with any kit. Do your research, see if they will give you a list of customers that have their kits and make some phone calls.
Building anything from a kit or ground up is a labor of love. Im about 2yrs or so into my build and to tell the truth loving every minute of it. It has its days where it frustrates the hell out of me and I want to haul it off to the scrap heap..lol..but shes my baby i couldnt do that.
Do your research...thats the best thing I can tell you.

Back in 2001 i had considered A&C as on of the choices for building a Cobra from a "kit" they offered it in different stages like a frame packageand a body package and so on and you could pay as you went and all of that sounded pretty good at the time and probably would have worked out well but i was clear out on the west coast and shipping costs where going to be a big part of the build and i just had a hard time justifying the high cost of shipping.....sssooo if you are close to them pay them a visit and talk to some of their customers and if possible take a ride in a factory demonstrator (they should have one) and do your research and talk to as many companies as you can.... I am building one right now.I started with the frame package. So far I am very happy with the quality and service they provide. Check out the A&C forums, there is a lot of great info there. Richie

I built my A&C over 10 years ago. I chose them primarily because of the quality of the body. I got mine in gelcoat and it still looks like paint.

I'm sure if you have been lurking for any time you will recognize a lot of the regulars-all straight shooters. Me, I've been building different kits, err Replicas for many years. A&C IS one of the best company's to work with and their Cobra, (along with many other cars) are quite top notch.
Call and talk to Sonny, if the ol' fart hasn't retired yet, or talk to Joe the owner. If there is a car for you to test they will let you know whether it is in their shop or a customers car.
If you should visit the company for heavens sake do NOT let first impressions sway you!  (the first time I saw it, I'd driven about 8 hours to see it. Took one look at the outside and just about turned around and fled! ) It is the most antiquated old building you will ever find. Right in the middle of a Industrial complex!) Strictly ALL Fiberglass and of course their frame shop. Don't wear a suit and tie, just go!
Well that's my opinion and 2-cents worth. Bottom line...a good Cobra.

team400, be sure to do your homework before buying from A&C in Buffalo.
Start by looking through the previous posts on this forum about importing Cobra kits from the U.S. into Canada. It's a minefield and, while it can be done, you will need to sort some things out with Transport Canada beforehand, else you risk having the kit seized at the border. I'd hate to see you have a problem.
The other thing you should look into is insurance. My understanding is that most home-built Cobra replicas can only be covered through Facility Association. Very expensive, no agreed-value coverage, but at least you'll be on the road. Make sure you know what you're getting into.
There's a Canadian section over at the Factory Five forum. You should check it out. Lots of guys there who have already done what you're looking to do. A great resource.
