Has anyone used the product noted?

Costco has a deal going on - 48 1' x 1' tiles for $99.99 delivered - $2.09 per tile. Seems like a good price if the quality is similar to other products. I'm seen prices as high as $4.00+ on this type of tile.

They only offer black/white or charcoal.

Input will be appreciated.

I think that MotoFloor is made by the same folks who make Race Deck.....it is just branded/named differently for Costco.

You are correct Slider, same company and they make a variety of different flooring. I too saw the Costco ad and I'm thinking about putting it in my garage.

The owner of the co is a member so I'm sure he can answer any of your question.

Correct, BUT it is also of lesser quality than Race-Deck as in thickness and durability.

Agree.......when evaluating the choices/cost on different floors, whether it is these two or others, need to check the specifications such as rolling load capacity, design of the understructure (honeycomb vs grid like vs X ) etc., etc and then decide what is required for a specific application.

Racedeck explained the product to me as it being their "residential product" verses racedeck being better for commercial application.

I know Racedeck is a paid forum member here, so if I'm out of line here, please feel free to delete my post...

I installed racedeck with a neighbor in his garage and installed a product from floorjunkie in mine http://www.floorjunkies.com/
racedeck is a nicer product, but it's not twice as nice. The floorjunkie product was about 1/2 the price and has free shipping (check ebay pricing, it's slightly cheaper than their website and also includes free shipping)

Any noticeable change in the floor with the lift on it? I'm looking to do something similar but was hesitating about the motofloor since I wasn't sure how it would be with the lift on top of it.

We've looked at these products many times, but I can't get past the feel and sound ... Like walking in Lego land. The modern epoxy options are just my preference.

I don't have any issues with the sound or feel. I also like the insulation quality it adds to the floor. I can lay on it in the winter and it's not that cold. Much better than concrete.

How do you deal with spills getting into the cracks?

I use my garage as a shop. It is also in snow area so the floor sees oil spills, ice melts, road salt drops, anti-freeze pukes . . .

Doesn't all this accumulate thru the joints into the sub-space? I would think it gets pretty funky

Or do you just not pay any attention to it? ? ?

yes, with the weight of the lift, with direct sunlight (think leave garage door open with sun shining in) there is a buckle between the lift. I've since moved the lift to the other side of the garage, where I think I'm going to leave it. I'm going to cut a couple tiles so the post bases are under the tiles with a little room on either side for expansion. This will correct the problem.

Thanks. . . I put it down in late August, so it's been less than a year, but it looks as good today as when it went down. It gets a little crappy looking in the winter with salt and sand they put on the roads here, but a quick hose and squeegy and it looks great again

so far I've dumped 4 qts of old oil on it and flushed a radiator (and missed some of my pail) I clean it like the concrete floor (speedy dry and a dust pan) and then give it a quick hosing off. some get's between the cracks, but most garage floors have a slope to them. The hosing help the product puddle towards the garage door.


Something else I did. . . because I too didn't like the sound of walking on it (well I didn't like the sound of my neighbors racedeck, so I assumed I would like the sound of walking on this). I put down a layer of roofing paper on top of the cement, and taped the seams with waterproof tape. I'm assuming this will help with spills too, but the main purpose was to soften the "hollow" sound of walking on it, and it did.


also these are shipped in 12" squares, verses the racedeck 2x2 (4 tiles) squares, so installation took a little longer. It wasn't 4xs longer, but it probably added 1/2 an hour. I did it myself, except having a daughter hand me the correct tiles, in just about 3 hours total for my 600 sq ft garage. My wife now wants to do her garage, but wants pink and purple so I'm dragging my feet a little

I am planning on just putting some 1'-6" 3/4" plywood squares painted black
to put on the tiles and under the post to distribute the load. Should make it
easy if I decide to shift the position in the future with no holes cut in the tile
too. Thanks for the tip on the felt paper beneath - makes good sense to me.

Have those options been discussed here, somewhere? I've looked at the Griots Garage option floor paint option - sounds good, but once again has anyone tried it? Of course, Griots always seems to be an expensive choice but if it's the best and lasting, in this case, it may be worth it. (Industrial Non-Lifting Floor Paint, 1 Gallon - $59.99) Griot stresses that all the steps must be completed "correctly" or the results will not be good. That worries me at some level.

By the way, Griots has free shipping all spring - it's unusually an expensive addition to any list of expensive products, although the products are above average.

I found a local company that sells the true epoxy stuff. What a difference. And the price was lower than the nation Web sites selling the lighter stuff. I am on the fence now with our showroom, we did it in gloss black and it is very difficult to keep clean and my photos don't come out as nice as the back area done in a light grey (nearly white). When I figure out the name of the place again I will post it.

We (3 of us) prepped a 6000 SF space in a weekend and coated it the next. So a basic garage should not be too hard. We had the luxury of new concrete to work with but it had the industrial fibers in it that made the scrapping and smoothing process a little more difficult.

I tried to get the Racedeck aluminum for the showroom but it turns out they only recommend it for small "show only" applications...

The place we bought it from is http://www.chargar.com/ but they just put their stickers on a national supplier's stuff. So I'm sure you can find a similar outfit in your state... the key is the % of solids in the formula.
