Installing clear bra

Hello all,

I am thinking of purchasing the clear bra and installing it myself.

I was wondering from those that have done this already your advice.

I was first thinking of using blue tape to create a template on the front of the car and selected areas. Then, I would remove the tape and transfer it a more sterdy material like a poster paper.

Next, place the clear film on a large piece of working area such as a clean mirror or glass, trim fit to template.

Finally, place on car for final touches.

Youtube has a number of videos on installation of a clear bra or paint protection film. For as many curved surfaces as a Cobra has it can be a little intimidating but take your time and it shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Be aware that the vinyl material doesn't like cold. Below about 65 degrees it can be pretty balky to work with.

I had Premier do my car. This not a easy job to do buy yourslf.

I think both of them are 8 mil so it's probably a push.
I had the 3M standard 8 mil installed on the car when I got it and it has held up extremely well. Particularly the spats on the front of the rear fenders. Had a mishap last Sep. and had to have the rear of the car repainted. When the spats were peeled off there were a couple of stone dings that got through the material but overall after 44K miles the protection it has provided for the paint is nothing short of amazing.
Since the original installation I've added strips to the top of the doors and under the snap posts for the soft top myself (the original installation was done by a vendor). Pretty easy to work with but make sure the prep is as good as you can get it first. It will make a big difference in the final look of the installation. Also be sure that the temp is at least 65 degrees, warmer if you can manage it. As I mentioned the material handles very poorly when it's cold.
Watch as many videos as you can find on the installation process for all of the different products that are out there. It's very likely you can pick up small pointers that will transfer over when you start your project.
Of course having the material installed by a pro is the easiest and will probably produce the best results. Those guys have usually been working with the material long enough to know how to handle any problem areas.

I stronlgy suggest you don't do you own!! Our Cobra's have extreme curves, etc. that make it difficult. Go to the expert... I used a place in Stuart, FL... make the 2 hour drive and do it right!!
