Default fuel cap location

Is it just the 289 fia COBRAS that have the fuel cap located behind the passengers seat? My Street Beasts COBRA has the fuel cap behind the passenger seat even though it's a 427 body.

Mine is behind the passenger seat also but still close enough to the fender for the fill hose to be outside of the frame.

If I were to redo mine I would use the Lemans cap in the top of the fender and redo the fill tube on the tank to fill from the top of the tank instead of the side.

I believe it would make the filling of the tank quite a bit easier. Maybe not, but I think so.

Yes, the 427's had them in the peak of the rr fender, FIA had them behind the passenger seat as an easier means of filling during pit stops. Regular 289's all had then in the center of the rear deck.

Went through the same thing with my CMC car.In the end decided did not want filler on fender. My tank has filler top right making the filler cap behind pass the perfect place.Bent up a pipe and used a rubber filler hose at each end (tank and filler cap) looks great in my eyes and leaves the fender lines alone.
