Default Ford Ignition Cylinder Replacement Problem

I just replaced the ignition key cylinder in my Cobra's FORD steering column. Is there a trick to getting it aligned in the column to get the full action from lock to start? I cant seem to activate each event; lock, ignition, start. If I get the starter to activate and release the key, the ignition cuts out. If I get the column to lock, I cant activate the start sequence. I've taken the brass gear out of the cylinder opening and changed position at least 15 times. I've spent enough hours on it and need to know the installation tricks. Any help out there?

The ignition switch is adjustable and mounted down the column from the lock cylinder. I wonder if it got knocked out of adjustment. Just thinking out loud.

Things seem tight and secure. I managed to get the start and accessory to work, but still no lock. The linkage to the electrical switches seems a little bent. Maybe thats the problem. Hate to remove everything and start from scratch. No damn room under there to work.
