Default Open Tracking with Avon

Guys , realizing that all cars/drivers are somewhat different .... you guys that have done open track with Avons , I`m looking for a starting point suggestion on tire pressure as I`m going to VIR this weekend for some track time . Been a looong time since I`ve run that track . Car is an ERA that weighs out at 2693 lbs with driver , 3/4 tank of gas and all fluids .
I`m thinking that 26 psi F & R are a good starting point . Tires are the Avon 15 inchers .

See ya there, I ran those last couple of track events, you will love 'em! Depending on track temp you will be starting @ ~ 24 to 26. On track, once tires get to temp you will end up with 30 - 32+ psi. Start slow and work up to speed, your handling will definately change, other wise you end up in the infield..........take it from me

Bret .... thanks .... I have been running 26 all the way around on the street . I`m trying to get there Thursday afternoon to go through tech early so I don`t have to cram too much into Friday .
Know what you mean about going off the track . Way "back in the day" , I managed to go off at the end of the front straight ( trying to outbrake another car ) and also at the bottom of the downhills after the back straight ... trying to pass a Porsche Carrera who was a lot slower then me in the turns , but a bunch faster on the straights . Since then , as I`ve gotten older , I`ve become a bunch smarter ... hopefully .
BTW ... I used to work up in your area many years ago ,. not too far from the ABE Airport . Beautiful area .

See ya .
