I know it was wrecked at Brands Hatch and I think Tony Flory was killed. The car was destroyed but rebuilt using a new chassis and body parts from another car. (I don't recall that car number)
The car you see today at vintage events isn't the original car due to the accident but it's still cool either way. I have a bunch of pics of it as it is today.

It was crashed and half of the wreck was used to rebuild **** which was also wrecked. I do not have the registry in front of me to know which half from each car went where but suffice it say that each car was heavily damaged at the front and rear and that the good halves of each were put together to make one car.......****
There were two 2301 built well after the originals demise, one in the United States and the other in Europe

The information about the two cars being clipped was disproven a few years ago by an examination of the remains of the car Radford Racing sold, now numbered ****, by three experts, including Stuart Hall, Geoff Howard, and the registrar. Each reached the same conclusion independently: the car is quite original and maintains its original chassis and almost all of its body work. The story about the cars being combined and using a new chassis was fabricated by a mechanic, even though none of the Radford team could recall having it done, and each vehemently said "we certainly didn't pay for it!" As for the 2 cars using the 2301 VIN today, each was built with new parts well after the 60's. And the supposed remains dumped down a well and miraculously "found" by a joker on the west coast aren't worth spit in a river.

Hey Ned
In an old registry, I read that it's owner (Sparrows) reported the car totally destroyed and no pieces of the original car exsist. Not true?

Nedsel
I guess it would be safe to surmise that "****" = ****?

The car sold as two-three-zero-one was discovered to be twenty-two sixty, and that is how it is numbered today. (sorry - the posts are mechanically edited if I print the numbers straight-up.)

Looks like the site is having a couple issues. It won't let me post anything with numbers in it either. I was going to post a photo but maybe later.

We are allowed to censor, thank you.
There is some data parsing software in place for our own reasons.
Spell it if you get asteriskized.

Ned is correct. I spoke with one of the prior owners of twenty two sixty a couple weeks ago and he told me the story. Twenty two sixty is twenty two sixty.
