Default Will the real BRENT MILLS please answer??

I've copied and pasted my original question from the "Cobras for sale on Ebay" robot thread. It was being ignored and trampled by relentless ad postings. Crist and one or two others have expressed similar questions. To wit:
"Originally Posted by tcrist View Post

Brent,
X 2. A separate forum which postings would not appear on the front page and which we could avoid would be nice and still have you collect revenue. The Facebook and other crap links just appeared without explanation one day and Ron kindly explained their presence after the fact. Most of us know how to social network if we wanted to.
Are you reading this or is it on Autopilot forever? I know it's your schoolyard and you let us meet here but if I wanted to look for a Cobra I know how to get to ebay and the other auctions. I come here to give and take with other Cobra owners-NOT look for Cobras, GT's and FE parts. The Classified section of the forum is fine for that.
The forum is taking an unhappy detour in my opinion and we're losing the 'Club' in 'Club Cobra'.
The courtesy of a reply is requested-or is this not open for discussion?

I think it is on auto pilot, a few weeks ago I had posts removed with no reason why. When I asked the question went unanswered.

Most likely was removed because it did not show the paid forum sponsor in a professional manner....

FYI, Club Hot Rod and Club Chopper have the e-bay listings on their own forum/sub forum. I dont know if an individual can block a whole forum/subforum though. Would be nice.

I am more concerned that Brent's server is being hacked and in turn we are taking a chance on it traveling to our computers.

CC has these E-bay ads under Brent & RSS Feeds.

JMO, which meens nothing.

I'm with Chas in suggesting we all know how to use evil*bay, should one feel the need to look for such items.

I would object to an ebay update once every couple of months (if it is a money spinner for the site) but the auto RSSfeed is quite frankly annoying.

My 2 cents

M2W ......You now know the content of the "robot thread"..

SO DON'T GO THERE!!!!!....If you don't click you won't be so bloody bothered about it...

Now would one be so inconvenienced by this if their own car was amongst those being so forcefully rammed down our throats!!!

I'll write this in crayon for you Ozzie-it's the TREND of automated advertising and social links I and several others are 'bloody bothered' about. Having figured out how to build my own car, I had figured out that I could just ignore the threads.
I hope Brent's response is more constructive than yours.

Again it's a choice do I follow the TREND and use its content or do I IGNORE it !!

..... I hope my crayons aren't TOO colourful...

Check outside your "NO JUNK MAIL" sign must have fallen off your mailbox..

Kind regards OZZIE...

Chas, would you like me to teach you how to filter java script? Or, you could add the feed to your ignore list under your user control panel. It will then look something like this:

I have explained this to many over the last week or so....here it is again:

Brent has installed an automated posting account that picks up relevant listings on eBay and robo-posts them in only THREE sub-forums: Cobras, GT40 and FE Talk.

The feed comes in on a timer and posts several times a day TO THE SAME THREADS.

It is meant to be a convenience tidbit. If it doesn't work out, I am sure it will be removed.

If it currently bothers you....don't read that thread. Or "Ignore" the username that posts the feeds.
If "change" bothers you, I am sorry for you.

There is no "risk" involved...there is no spam involved; it is simple an auto-poster.

Be specific.

But knowing that it's now a fact here, I (and Terry) asked why it can't be done in another form-like the classifieds. I didn't see any of the explanations on the forum. An explanation to a reported post did not come from Brent.

It is meant to be a convenience tidbit. If it doesn't work out, I am sure it will be removed. That's something positive. Why not poll the membership?-Wait, I know-we don't have to poll anybody...

If "change" bothers you, I am sorry for you.
Change doesn't bother me so save the sorrow. I didn't write this to aggravate the administration. As I wrote earlier-automated robots and Tweeters doesn't feel like a 'Club' Cobra. Especially when electronic changes just appear without prior notice. -I know, it's Brent's to do as he pleases and there's no need for any explanations to any of us.

Thanks Pat for your well-intentioned help. I have studied the Ignore List instructions since you joined the forum...

Dear kind Moderators,

Seeing as eBay ads are normally posted to run for a week, I see no relevance to an hourly update!
Perhaps this could altered to a weekly update as opposed to the current more frequent arrangement.

Just a thought...

Kindest regards,
Anth

PS: thanks for your work on CC, I really enjoy and appreciate the website.

Right now the RSS Feed posts only twice a day; the job is on a 12 hour-cycle.

I am more than PI$$ED off at that reply. A simple "it can't happen" would have been fine.

Ok, it cant happen. Maybe it make's sense to you computer experts, but to a novice like me, it doesn't.

I got bombarded with a multitude of viruses that completly screwed up my computer and all I did was click on a news link in Yahoo. According the the EXPERTS, 57 viruses in less than 10 seconds.

Sorry if I seem a bit nervious about this crap. All I know is that I got hosed and it cost me $350 to get it fixed. That included a new anti-virus software.

Maybe clicking on a link in Yahoo is different than Brent's web site. Could be, but I have no idea.

I can understand your fear. Trust me, we patrol the site pretty vigorously...and frequently.

And, as a word of advice...find a new "expert" to fix your PC next time....
...your hosing mostly occurred after the Yahoo incident.

Sorry it happened; hope the new protection software keeps you safe.

How can I go about finding a new expert in my area that will not "HOSE" me?

What is the criteria to look for?

What are the questions to ask to know that they are not going to "HOSE" me?

Not trying to be a smart a$$ here CW. I am just trying to gain knowledge for the next time, if there is one.

Thanks
