Dashboard question for the gurus
Hello,
I'm new to the group. Been looking for a cobra to buy for a couple of months now. Last week saw a poor example that looked great in the pictures, but not so much in person.
Anyway, I saw a picture of this one, but I have never seen a dash setup like this before. The seller said it was a factory five, but I'm not sure. Can anyone tell me what manufacturer made this one?
Thanks,
Rick

Looks like a Lone Star Classics, to me.

They're both good kits. It really depends on the quality of the build and what you're looking for.

Welcome Rick! How much is your budget for a car?
What are you looking for in a car? (what do you intend to do with it?)

Lone Star dash
I have a Lone Star but my dash is a little different than the one in the picture. I did install a padded aluminum panel onto the fiberglass dash. You can paint the fiberglass and install the gauge, if you want. I think Shell Valley has a dash like the LS.

P.S. this pic is one I took on the trip to the London Cobra Show 2011. Somewhere south of Louisville, Ky maybe 5 AM. Rained for about an hour. The return trip was 300 miles of rain on a 510 mile trip. Lots of fun.

Rick,
Actually, that could be the dash of any Cobra.
Some builders choose to modify the dash that may come with the car. I just happen to like the original dashes but what makes these car fun/interesting to build is that you can build them the way you like.
I am building a Factory Five and am really enjoying the custom work I am doing to my build. I have changed the foot boxes, made some radical changes to the outside of the foot boxes in regards to insulation, changed the trunk, fuel lines, brakes and I'm building an original glove box into the dash where FFR had none.
On the other hand, there are many builders that are content to build the car as it was designed by the kit manufacturer. The best part is that it is up to you.
It is going to be hard to get a straight answer as to which car is the best. Each car will have it's pluses and minuses.
Try to get as much information about these cars as you can. Spend some time reading the forum, especially the build threads. Connect with owners in your area and see if they are willing to show you their car/build and possibly give you a ride.
Best of luck in your search
