Quick release steering wheel
Just finished installing a Quick-Release steering wheel hub and I love it! Much easier to get in and out, especially with the hard-top in place.
Also love the lock cover that key locks in place when the wheel is removed. A little peace of mind I guess.
But I now have a question now. Are these considered street legal and will the car fail the state of Illinois inspection?
Look forward to your comments,
Arthur

I got one from Lee Dahmer at Sterling Replicars... nice product! Many of the Unique owners have them. I did have a slight fitment issue with mine, I think due to a change in the Unique steering shaft. Beast on here and the Unique site did a cool fix for me!

Why would you tell them? They wouldn't notice unless you pointed it out to them.

And if you absolutely had to, just cover the quick release finger holes with nicely trimmed foil HVAC tape and not only would it then be technically "disabled," it would be almost impossible to find to begin with.

It worked! Here's one photo. Go to my Gallery and you'll be able to see all the photos on how I made the Grant unit fit. As the Grant unit increased the overall length of the column, it required machining down the existing hub. Then it required an adaptor collar (the polished aluminum piece) to mount the Grant unit to my Nardi wheel.

I wouldn't tell Sir. But it would be worthwhile knowing if it's a legal issue.
I hope it's nothing like what I went through when I registered a car I built in Australia. Every inspector had a different opinion.
