Wow that really sucks. I was next to you on 85s on Thursday afternoon heading down. I will keep my eyes out in our area. Sorry to hear that.

Terribly sorry to hear about the stolen Cobra. I spent the week at Monterey and parked on the street in downtown Monterey, close to the auction area, several times for up to 2 hrs. at a time. I now feel very very lucky my car wasn't stolen or vandalized. These cars are very vulnerable to theft.

Unbelievable. I've decided to steer clear of the whole event for the last five years because it just became a zoo. Now, hardcore criminals show up at a legendary event? Pathetic pieces of shix.

Terrible situation and wake up call for everyone running around in a target car.
I lost a RSR Porsche with a great European racing history in the paddock of Laguna Seca in 1990 at the same event. I owned the racing school there and just never thought for a second that parking that car by the garage area would be a risk. Witnesses said they saw a flat bed tow truck back up to the car and winch it on, everyone thought it was just "normal". The car was found months later in a shipping container with 3 others, headed for Asia.
So, any collector car or specialty car I put money in now gets a simple and cheap GPS transmitter in the chassis somewhere, hooked to the battery for continuous charging and if the battery is cut, it will transmit about 5 days, like a cell phone. If you have every seen the "Find my iPhone or iPad" application, it is exactly the same. Locates the car on my computer, using google map, within about 15 feet. Just make sure you don't want you wife knowing exactly where your little ride took you, the only downside maybe!
Never had the problem again, but you never know.
Really hope the slime is caught and quick.

Wayne,
Do you have a suggestion on any companies producing gps equipment? It is information overload searching online, so any referral would be great.

The is the newer model of the couple I have. Not a recommendation as this is a very fast moving technology and there may be much better system out there now, at much better prices.

I have this one for my Van and trailer.
DEWALT MOBILELOCK, Wireless Alarm System and GPS Locator
It alarms you at the time of tempering, e-mail text or phone. Up to 3 numbers. You don't loose valuable time after the theft or tampering.
Most of the devices are neat but the Dewalt beats all of them...
(BTW: the service is only $20 a month...)

TTT,
We should try to get as many eyes as possible on this thread for the people that had their car stolen.

Pretty car...
Sorry to hear it...
I hope they catch the cork-soakers and castrate them...
