Default What Are All the Parts In a Cobra?

So most people when buying a kit know what they need or the manufacturer automatically supplies it. If you were building a cobra from scratch and had the body, frame, wheels, engine, engine components, transmission, side pipes then what else would you need? Here is the start of my list:

Brakes

I had to get a 9" rear axle and shorten it and make a drive shift to fit.

The Ford 9" rear from a 1978 Lincoln Versailles is pretty close to what we need measured flange to flange AND it comes with factory 11" disk brakes with built-in cable operated emergency brake and 5-lug hubs. I discarded the 2.78 28 spline open pumpkin and bolted in a 28 spline posi with 3.50 gearing. All I had to do was fabricate and weld on mounting pads for the shocks and four-link control arms.

There needs to be more information given for help here. When I look at this list I just see the basics. The wiring for example should include: wiring harness, quality connectors, extra wire, electrical tape, mounting materials, zip ties, shrink wrap, switches, ignition, specialty connectors, ground straps, etc. Each one of those items listed rolls over into 5 to 10 fold of "other" items needed for the installation. My gas tank for example: gas tank, stainless steel mounting straps, rubber insulation, custom machined fill neck, sending unit, supply lines, vent hose, roll over valve, gas cap. All of those incidentals adds up real quick!! Trust me! The make of the kit and some other descriptions would help here. Regards, Matt

When scratch building anything it always boils down to focusing on the problem at hand.Not let the total project overwhelm you.Finish one thing at a time get it behind you the end result is so much more enjoyable.Also leaves you with pretty good confidence that all is right.The first few shake down runs will help build that much needed confidence.

That's quite a list! I hadn't seen that before.
One thing about the wheels Nick, the early Le Mans Cobras (2131 and 2142) used the 10-slot, one piece, Dunlop wheel from the Jaguar E-type Lightweight. D-Types used a two piece Dunlop with round holes.
