Default What do i have??

I haven't posted before now, so sorry for the lack of introduction and forum etiquette. I picked up this axle center section from someone quite a few years back when I was planning on duing a Kirkham or other replica build. I was told it's the correct salisbury 4HU for an original or authentic rearend setup(though I believe it's lacking an adaptor of somekind). But to be honest I'm not sure and unfortunately this project is not coming to pass in the near future. So I'd like to sell it to someone who can use it.
What is it?
What is it worth?
It's too heavy for garage art!

Thanks

That is a 3.31:1 open diff.....non posi....and looks just like a standard jag cemter portion.
The 3.31 was used in a lot of early XJ sedans.

I know the guts are nothing spectacular, but is the housing the Correct 4HU Salisbury for building a replica or original rear end? More importantly is it worth anything??

Short answer, no. While that is a 4HU, its not the case used in an original style Cobra chassis. It can be used with adapter brackets but the correct case has four bolt bosses around the input housing.
Try doing an eBay search on Jag differentials and you should get an idea of value.

Here's a thread with lots of good info about 4HU's and adapters.

Question

Is that some damage on the gear set in the last photo?

Nope, just a goober or something.

I have tried ebay for research, but it's hard to put a good comparison on price, I only see different non related diffs or complete rearend setups for a mint. No auctions that I could find anyway.

Thanks, to all for info. I guess I'll post it in the for sale section and hope someone bites. Maybe the housing is worth a hundred or two. Sitting in the garage, it's worth about nothing.

Thanks,

Eric

I have a Torsen Differential that will fit that rear end and gear set if you or whoever buys it is interested in putting a locker in It has less than 100 miles on it and is in like new condition.
