Largest, Tallest Person That Owns a Cobra?
I have friends that say only small people can drive a Cobra, I want to prove them wrong. If you are willing, please post your weight and or height if you think you are big.
Conditions, you must own the car, no one time drives, also, no stretch cars, 90" wheelbase only.

He kept telling Bob that he (the older guy, not Bob) is too tall to fit into a Cobra. I told this guy that Bob owns and drives that Unique 289. He just kept repeating that he was too tall for a Cobra.
Two neat tricks Bob uses to fit:
1. Dash cut out. Bob has cut out a semi circular portion of the dash along the lower edge between the steering wheel and gearshift to give his right leg clearance.
2. Bob uses memory foam in the driver's seat. This is really neat stuff. Both seats in bob's Unique look identical, but when you sit in the driver's seat, the foam padding compresses about 4 inches to about 1/2 inch in thickness. This way Bob gets additional leg room and sit lower in the cockpit. The special foam always returns to its original shape no matter how long it's been squeezed, so when you get out of the seat, you can watch it rise back to original thickness. Both seats look thickly padded and original.

Bob wins!

Dan Gurney is 6'3"
I think he qualifies to be excluded from the "small people" grouping

I'm 6'2" with a 34" leg inseam, a 37" sleeve length (monkey arms), size 12 clown feet and I tip the scale at 215 lbs. I fit nicely in my car and can drive for a couple of hours before needing a strech or a pee stop.

I'm only 5'8" tall, but weigh in at around 250 and don't have any problems. Shoulder room is a little tight on the left side against the door, but I can live with that.

6' 7"... I win so far! Weight is 235lbs.
For me, a perimeter 2" by 4" frame makes all the difference in the world, I sit down between the rails.
I still need a bit more legroom to be really comfortable, anyone know of a good pedal set that has short travel? Mine hinges from the top of the footbox, and has crazy long travel, I was thinking of the floor mounted kind, they seem to be much shorter travel.

I'm 6'0". I tried to fit in a NAF once & couldn't fit. I know ERA & Unique(see above) can fit people a lot taller than I. My Car has a couple inches behind the seat.

I fit
When I owned my car, CSX 3183, I never had a problem. I am 6-6, at that time I weighed 230, and I have size 14 shoes., Never had a problem with my knees hitting the dash, nor finding room for my feet, or a problem with having the top up.
Yes my head would rub the top, yes my thighs were very close to the steering wheel, and yes I had to manipulate my left foot behind the clutch pedal. My feet burned from the heat, and with the top down, I couldn't see hardly at all, since my head was higher than the windshield.
All A VERY small price to pay, to own and drive the best damn car ever built, for sheer power, fun, excitment, and envy. If you want to drive a sports car, no matter what it is, and it's your dream car, there shouldn't be anything that you can't overcome.
I mean, your not driving a Lincoln. If the above problems prevent you from owning a Cobra, then your not worthy anyhow.

I'm 6'3" 290#, size 14 shoe. A picture of me in the car when I bought it is in my gallery. I could not drive the car when I bought it. no way. Now I sit below the windshield rather than looking over it. Nick Acton performed major surgery to the interior and now it is a dream to drive.
1. Lose the seats. Have the seat built to sit on the floor and against the bulkhead. You will go down 5" and back 6".
2.Move the drive side header to go forward as this gives you 2" in the foot box. Move the pedals so there is room between them.
3. Cut the transmission tunnel 4" to allow for more thigh room.
4. Move the steering column over 2" to prevent knucles from hitting the door.
Also get the 25 gallon gas tank from Acton Customs as this allows for extended cruising.
Hope this helps.
David A.

I don't understand why anyone would try to cram themselves into a 90" when there are so many kits available. I am 6'6" - 245 and could not close the door on a 90. Thought the dream was over. Went with a 96", dropped the floor a few inches and my legs can now go nearly straight if I go around the pedals.

If proper adjustments are made, the driver is not crammed and your Cobra does not look like a foot long hot dog!
