Default nj inspection sept 21

I was to have my car inspected this wed sept 21, I am now hearing that Morristown had 11' of water. I am not sure of what to do since I cant contact them. Im also wandering if my paperwork, including my bill of sale didnt get ruined, Is there someone who knows a number I can call to help me with this situation. If it wasnt for this thread I would have made the trip to morristown for nothing, Thank you club cobra. Any insight on what approach I should take is appreciated, Also , I would like to know if 15 " wheels are acceptable.

Call the special titles division in Trenton ask them for an update on Morristown, then ask them for an appointment in Winslow.

oh and I spoke to the dude in winslow, he didnt mention the wheels but you would need the car to be 2" off the ground when the tires are deflated. Also this guy at winslow was a stickler for emissions. on a 69 you may be good but with mine he said he wanted ALL the parts that were present on my engine at the time of production. Something about fuel evaporation & all these other things that I just have no idea about. He also wants wipers, sheilds, self cancelling signals, high beams with an indicator. He wouldn't take my glazing. He wanted all of my glass & lenses to read DOT1 SAE somewhere on them. I got a letter from Factorty 5 saying that the parts were all compliant, but he didnt care. He wanted me to change it all if it didnt say it on the glass & lenses. He was not as nice as the asbury dude & knew a lot more.

A VERY IMPORTANT POINT MUST BE MADE. IF YOU CAN NOT TELL I AM YELLING? JOHN DOES HAVE A REGISTRATION AND PLATES BUT HE DOES NOT HAVE THE NOR WILL HE EVER BE ABLE TO GET THE EMISSIONS TESTED ON HIS CAR UNDER WITH THE TITLE HE RECEIVED.

We all have the freedom of choice to get our vehicle's emissions or not, and run the risks associated with it.

I you want to fully and properly register your car where you are able to legally drive your car WITH emissions tested this method of just transferring an out of state "newer" registration will not work.

I am not telling people what to do or not to do just the consequences of the different choices.

Ok, This is how it went today at asbury station. arrived at 9:30 for a 10:30 appointment. I was not sure if I was at the right place because I was expecting to see a large facility, but after asking a person sitting in front of this building if they did inspections here , he said, yes, just ring the bell at the side door just once, just as the sign on the door indicated, so I did and an inspector appeares and says to me, What are you here for, and where is your paper work.I say to him that all my paperwork was sent to morristown, and that I dont have any with me. He then proceeded to call out, we have one for morristown inspection, Drove my car in and was guided onto a lift, was then told to step on brakes, left blinker , right blinker, brake lights, head lights
, high beams,he checked light indicators on dash. windshield wipers, horn, dot markings on glass, and seat belts. He then told me to step out of the car and open the hood and the trunck, I was then to wait out side, and he woukd come to get me when he was finished, Outside I took a seat on the back seat of some car they proped up on cinder blocks, where i worried about my 15" wheels not making it and him being able to decipher the codes on my engin block to verify that is was a 68 motor, after 20 min , he appeared, told me to follow him, once inside he told me that every thing wsa good, and gave me notorized papers for titling, and a letter stating that my motor falls under the exemtion law, needless to say my day was made, it coukd not have gone better, especially when he said my 15" wheels just made the limit, the limit being 2" clearance from ground to chassie when tires are deflated, He asked if I built the car ,and I told him that it was built in south africa, I thanked him ,and waked out of there with a smile. To be honest I dont know what the outcome would have been if the guys from asbury would have done the inspection, I will never know, but I would deffenitly try keep track of where morristwn inspections are done whether they are in asbury, or moved back to morristown.

Proof positive of the value of this forum. I have gained so much information from this forum.
From this post I can say without out doubt that I thank God I don't live in a state with those kind of rules. I left Michigan because they started requiring me to wear a helmet when riding my bike.
I am slowing running out of places to live with the rules over taking my freedoms.South America is sounding better all the time. To some extent they are more free.

Johncara,

Please post or contact me offline about exactly how you did the title swap, what form you used and where? I tried at my local DMV and was sent to Trenton. I have sent you three PM's on here so hopefully you will pass on the help since so many others on here advised you as well. J

Default Title & registration in new jersey

i'd like to purchase a FF Cobra, titled and registered as a 2016 Assembled Cobra' with an Ohio-assigned VIN. Is there any way to title and register in NJ so that it does not have to go through NJ inspection?

Honestly, no, it will get titled as shown on the Ohio title, as Ohio and NJ are reciprocal states. This means that they each accept the others title.

Now, with that said, you can go through the "kit car" title process, which if you read the whole thread, is not that difficult, unless the car you are buying cannot pass such a close inspection. At that time, NJ will place a waiver in the system to bypass emissions inspection, but you will still be subject to safety inspections as on the books today (unknown to me at this time).

Now, with that said, please read the following entitled "NEWBIES READ THIS" so that you do not make the mistake of resurrecting a 12+ year old thread again.
