It's never too late. You should think about life balance and still buy the hybrids.
Not sure about your budget but the AC MKIV's with the fuel injected 302's are really nice "starter" cars.
Good luck.

Well, I had to take a quick look and see what your better half had to say here. Hum, I guess she ordered the parts and built the car, you two just share in the driving?
She certainly is quite knowledgeable about cobras, a hands-on type of gal, I like that in a woman!
I'm sure she would stand behind you on this one 100% too

Great attitude!! I say buy the Vette for the girlfriend and get yourself a kick butt Cobra!
In reality, if there's any debate about a woman's inherent ability to handle a Cobra, Check out my CC friend Queenie. She goes by the name Bourret on this forum and she races her Cobra all over France. She is currently on her second motor - built by Keith Kraft - and she runs 11's in the quarter mile.
The really interesting thing is that she is also a pilot!

Don't forget HLC. I believe Kristen sold her's, but still. I am sure that there are quite a few ladies out there that can run circles around me. Now, and when I was younger.

I saw a small yacht out in the bay, cruising by under the golden gate bridge. It was serene and inviting. The following week we were on it. It was cold & windy…we got soaked and the crap beat out of us. Moral of the story…looks can be deceiving.

Here's an idea: Find someone who owns a Cobra that lives near you, and have him or her give your fiance a ride for a few hours, and let her experience the thrill of the passenger seat. After that, find out if she STILL would like a Cobra to drive. If she does, and she says she would "take it easy", find someone who will let her drive their Cobra for a period of time, (with the owner in the car, and his hand on the ignition key) say an hour or so, safely, like on the freeway. That way, she gets some acceleration under her belt. Then take it from there. If I lived near you, I would take her for a few hours, and let her drive it as well.

I would say that is pretty much impossible since the ignition key is on the far left of the dash.

Wow, lots of beer muscles and keyboard attitudes in this thread.
So, let's see, she's your fiance and she wants a cobra? Sounds like you made a great choice in a woman. Nice job! Now get her the cobra.

If I had a feminine side...I'd be touching it.
That being said, gotta love it when your wife wants to join you in the Cobra, whether she drives or rides with you on runs, track days, etc. Makes it more mucho muy goodo.

IMHO.....
Build the car. She is smoking hot, wants to be involved in your passion, and is all good with you having performance cars. Sounds like marrying material to me.
I honestly think you could buy a very nice used Cobra for less than you could build one for. Superformance chassis are selling in the low to mid 40s, Backdraft chassis are in the high 30s and FFR chassis are 25-55. Locate a good deal and get on the road sooner! If she/you don't like it, then sell it next spring during the hike in demand.
I kinda wish my lady was more into performance cars so I think you have a keeper there.

Build her the Damn car. Half the guys driving them can't drive them either.
Have you ever seen a newbie on the road course in a Cobra. They can't understand why the guy in the GTI keeps passing them.
Anybody can drive a Cobra on the street it takes some lessons to drive them fast. Something that most guys won't admit.
Build her the Cobra and send her to a performance driving school and when she graduates she will teach you how to drive your Vette.

MY ignition key is on the right. Obviously, SOME Cobras have their key on the right.
Without any sort of a disclaimer, your comment is invalid.
