Footbox ventillation fans
Hi all. I am using the West Marine 4" 12v bilge blower fans to ventillate my footboxes. I'm also using '63 Ford Falcon heater switch/control cables. These are 3 position switches (OFF/Lo/Hi) to control the fan and a push/pull cable to operate (open/close) the air flow dampers.
The fan motors are single speed (two wire - GRND/Power) and fun quite fast and loud.
Would it be posible to use the LO speed setting on the switch wired to a 12v to 6v elecronic voltage reducer for motors (Speedway # 910-64103) to reduce the motor speed and have a quieter fan?
Since both Lo and Hi would be hooked up the the same single motor wire, would I have to put a diode in the Lo wire to prevent backfeed when running on Hi at full 12v?
Comments and advice would be appreciated.
By the way, the fuel lines for my Stewart Warner 240A fuel pump upgrades will be back from the platers this week and the conversion/installation pics should be posted by the end of the week.
