Thumbs up FFR MKIV FIA Spy Shots!

I've been working on the east coast lately, and since I'm so close to FFR I decided to drive up for a visit.

I was treated to a no-holds-barred tour of FFR by Dave Smith and he promised some surprises. He didn't disappoint! Among the things I saw were an IRS Challenge Chassis and various 818 goodies but I also ran across an FIA body mounted on a MKIV!

So without further ado, here are some spy shots of an FFR MKIV FIA!

Sweet pics, they have one of the best chassis in the business, factory 5, I always wanted a challenge racer.

If FFR makes the FIA, AND makes a spec racer version (at a similar price point) that will be accepted in the NASA events, I promise here and now to buy one.

Hope FFR is listening.

Igofastr, that's a good question, especially the question of if they will allow it to run in the Challenge series.

The FIA is scheduled to be released after the 818 at this time, so it could be 6 months to a year. It's a good question to raise now though to see if it could be included in the 2013 racing year...

I'll pose the question over on the FFR Challenge series forum. I also passed your comment on to Dave Smith. Personally, the FIA is my favorite shape. To see a challenge series chassis with an FIA body would be AWESOME!

CNGreen,

Thanks for passing on my interest. I really hope they can work it out.

I have had a 427SC, but the FIA is absolutely my favorite body style. And I am serious about the Challenge car, I will buy one. Heck, if FFR were taking orders for such a car, I'd put my money down right now.

That could be real interesting. In the whole scope of things, really very small details separate the two body shapes but the end product would be simply amazing.

I'd imagine the same pricing would apply. I would guess just an either/or choice. I remember the early concerns of offering the FIA from FFR was that it would simply spread the revenue across the two styles rather than incremental revenue. Still an interesting business case to consider. My thinking is that if the body is right for the masses, it would provide incremental biz and especially if a LeMans top is offered with appropriate trunk and filler. The rear flares would be the toughest design choice above and beyond what can be seen in the above pics. It would be cool to offer an assortment of rear flare panels that could be grafted in depending upon the style you want to capture. Regardless, I'm in for the FIA with IRS and a snot slinging SB

There is a very small market for the 289FIA, Bruce made a mold and put a ton of work it it (a lot of internet requests) and did not sold one body.

Over the years FF5 had developed the Mk IV and is now presentable. Just to change the nose and fender flares is far from a 289. Especially the FIA. The 289 guys are very picky...

Besides that, the emblem "427" is one of the major reasons for the boys to get one of the Cobras...

If I were in the market for another cobra street car, I would seriously have considered Mr Bruce's Fia option.

For me, the deal maker/breaker is acceptance as a challenge car.

To each his own, but I've always like FFR, a heck of a deal for the money. But if I were to be putting a small block into a cobra, I would want a small block car. Since the challenge series is a spec small block series,...

It's my understanding that Bruce sold molds to FFR, but still had a second set that he kept for himself. I could be wrong, but that's what I heard.
