John, Patrick only laid-off of you because you were complimentary to both ERA and his car. If not for this, he probably would have hammered away at you and likely SPF.....again.

Did HST ever put the very first (yellow w/ carbon fiber stripes) on a chassis and sell it? I remember that body was really, really heavy! I almost bought the second carbon fiber bodied car, but at that time, Shelby couldn't decide what they were going to charge for it. So I passed on it!

That is my point. It isn't going to matter who you buy it from (and I believe, hasn't for a couple of years) but everyone bashes Shelby CSX cars as being way over priced, yet when configured equivalently, they are all about the same. My opinion of at least my HST-built Carbon Fiber car was that the QUALITY of the roller far exceeded the competition (ignore my engine quality issues - that was an installer problem). I can't say that in comparison to regular fiberglass only because I didn't and haven't done a comparison for almost three years. For aluminum I have to give the nods to Kirkham based on the quality being the same and the price difference. Kirkham really has done an excellent job here and their loyal customers show it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the SPF's and ERA's aren't $70,000 rollers, are they?

No correction necessary; they are not (unless you opt for the "gold plated underbelly" option, that is). ERAs and SPFs are for regular working-stiffs who, generally, tend to have more judgment than money.

It is well concluded that cobras offer no logical sense.
Thus, if you are driving one you almost certainly have more money than sense
...and as a matter of fact - I'm not suggesting that it would take much money to exceed my level of judgment.

Actually, I hope not. I don't like exposed carbon fiber. It's a fine material but I never understood why everyone thinks has to be exposed and out in the open like the plaid upholstery on the couch.
And as much as I like Kirkhams, the care and feeding of naked aluminum is as much an OCD task as black paint on my Mustangs. Mine would be painted Guardsman Blue.
My new Ford GT is Heritage. Did anyone ever do a Gulf blue and orange Cobra?

I don't know, but somehow both can end up with a total layout in the 85-90K range. Someone with price books can figure out how.

I personally think there is a place for CSX glass cars and have seen very nice ones.

I'm calling BS if all three cars are brand new builds. All other things being equal, SPF and ERA rollers are no where near $70,000. I would speculate that they're closer to $40-45K, than they are to $70K. How you would spend the same amount on a new build outfitting them with the same drivetrain?

I transported CSX4503 some years ago. It was a black car with exposed carbon fiber stripes and I just transported CSX4507 which is an all black carbon fiber car. Both were very nice cars!

Last fall, a new SPF roller at a dealer on the east coast was $40-45K. Close to $70K when finished.

A glass CSX and a SPF are not the same at all ... especially when you throw stones over a non-slanted radiator etc.

But what engine? I have customers with installer finished cars that are in under 58K with a Ford racing crate engine (stroked 351) and I have a customer doing an original side-oiler that will be done under $68,000 for a very detailed build. I have another customer who ordered a car as an anniversary gift for his wife (LUCKY GIRL!!!) with a Ford 340 HP 306 and a T5. Not a rocketship, but plenty quick enough to be entertaining and that car is under $55K ready to go.
You can't compare the cars without isolating the powertrain choice.

My point is that a CSX starts, as a finished completed painted roller, at about $25,000-$30,000 more than an SPF or ERA finished completed painted roller. If you drop the exact same FE (or SB, if you want) and a TKO600 in all three, the CSX car has to be $25,000-$30,000 more.
We're talking basic Algebra here.

If you visit ERA or Kirkham, and bring your checkbook, either one will build you virtually anything you want. We've seen examples of "over the top" builds from both, Larry E.'s car taking the cake. Is the same true of CSX and SPF? If I walk in to the CSX or SPF dealer and say "I don't like the mechanical configuration of _________ and I will pay you to make me what I want" will they do it?
