Default Famous "Going to get back into the game" custom camshaft up for bid...

I'm sure a lot of you guys have frequented this thread over the past several months:

http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/all-...back-game.html

I had made the decision to build a 445FE for myself and during the dialogue on which camshaft I was going to use, Patrick made the suggestion that I use a flat tappet cam. Knowing how I feel about flat tappets, he went a step further and even made the proposition that he would buy the flat tappet cam of my choice if I would use it in my engine. I accepted. (Hey, who can pass up a free bumpstick?) The terms were that it would have to be a custom cam with my own lobe selections and the core would have to be nitrided to protect against wear. Patrick owned up to his side of the bargain and in just a few weeks, I had the cam sitting on my workbench.

The horsepower parameters have changed slightly for my personal FE engine build and unfortunately it includes stepping up the camshaft a little bit to accommodate the changes.

Upon making this decision, I contacted Patrick by PM and told him about my intentions. I offered to send the cam back to him for use in one of his own toys, or to pay him back the amount that he paid Bullet. Patrick made the following suggestion:

Offer up the camshaft for bid on Club Cobra and let the proceeds of the sale go to Doug's (767jockey) Cobra project that is currently taking place in Ed Comb's shop.

So....

You all now have the chance to own this piece of Club Cobra memorabilia and the best part is that the winning bid amount gets transferred to a good cause.

The cam is a custom solid flat tappet piece, ground by Bullet Cams.

Cam specs are:

284/255/169/.357

284° advertised duration, 255° @ .050", 169° @ .200" with a lobe lift of .357". This cam is ground on a 110° LSA.

The cam core has been nitrided to protect against wear.

This cam would be great for a larger displacement street engine, or would provide a little more "rowdy" results in a smaller displacement engine. If anyone would want to bench race with this particular camshaft, you can contact me and I can give you a good idea of how it would perform in your current combination.

We will let the auction go for 1 week, so it will end 7 days from now (Thursday, October 13th) at 2 PM, EST.

The bid will start at $25 and we will accept bids publicly right here on this thread. The winner by the deadline can pay either Patrick or me and the proceeds will be sent to Doug for help with his Cobra project.

Not one single bid? Come on guys....

For $25, it would make a great art conversation piece. Don't stab it in an engine, just stand it up on its end on your fireplace mantle.

For goodness sake, this camshaft has been in the same room as Patrick! That should at least be worth something...

Maybe you should offer it with the tool for cutting the end off yer oil filter. That way the lucky bidder can find just the right time for converting to a hydraulic roller

Sorry Brent, Pat and Jockey... this thread is just too much bait

I'll try a bit more restraint...

Uhhhhh, ok. Being that you're a newbie at this sort of stuff, if you need any pointers on breaking in a SFT cam just let us know.

Bob,

The build parameters changed on the engine that this cam was going in. I talked it over with Patrick and we both agreed that we got our money's worth out of the original thread. I offered to buy it outright or send it back to Patrick. Patrick didn't want to use the cam, so we decided to auction it off to help Doug out.

There certainly wasn't anything malicious about this thread and I hope you didn't take it that way.

Patrick

I don't need it to run it in an engine---I'll use it to check the fit of cam bearings that I install in FE engines--then I can put my prized .600 lift Nascar cam back on the trophy shelf!!!

Also since I used to fly B767 like Doug, I'll raise my bid to $75
