The sharp angles inside will hinder the airflow. Look in Circle Track Magazine. There are several companies and vendors that offer drop center air filter housings. They have a smooth curved radius into the carb throat. They all clear Double Pumpers and you can use any height 14" or 16" diameter filter element that will clear the hood for your application. I used one successfully for many years. There is also a device called a Super Seal, that is cylindrical machined from aluminum which will eliminate the base gasket and uses a a large "O" ring
