Default Hairy Canary

Hi there, I stumbled onto this fantastic site today as a total fluke. One of my almost 3 year old boys saw a yellow mustang today and said matter of factly, " me need one of those and me need a big helmet to race it"....i had a bit of a chuckle and told him about his grandpa and the yellow cobra that he used to own and race; The Hairy Canary. So a few more minutes of convincing my son that papa was a "race car driver" I decided to google some pictures.....well well well, convinced he is.

I sure would like to contact the current owner and get some update as to the condition of the car. I see that it was last confirmed to be in England, but I have also read somewhere that it may have been repainted to blue and sold.
If anyone knows the owner please ask them to contact me, I did call my father tonight to give him some updates, so if there are any questions that can be passed on feel free to drop me a line.

E.Neil

Hi,

The "Hairy Canary" is still alive and racing in the UK (assuming it is the same car). This picture was taken at the Goodwood Revival in September:

I'll try to get the name of the owner for you.

Paul

Sorry?
My father was the original owner, Dick Neil.

I will ask him later today why he painted it canary yellow and how it got its name.

I found the same info on the owner, and that is where the trail dies. I am now trying to find a way to contact Mr.bridges, if you know anyone that could pass the word on to him, that would be great.

I've sent a few emails to some other UK Cobra owner/racers who will no doubt know Bill.

I'll get back in touch when I get a reply from any of them.
