Default Street vs. SC

Nothing beats the clean, sleek, low slung look of a nicely done Cobra roadster. Any of you 427SC guys sometimes feel like you've outgrown the street fighter image and find your eyes wandering in the direction of the more subtle street car?

CSX3111

Its been said that not all replicas look good naked. Removing the sidepipes and roll bar really exposes the lines and stance to scrutiny. Beauty however is totally subjective and I have seen some well very executed examples from a variety of manufacturers.

ERA does a beautiful job:

My Unique - I couldn't readily find a pic of a Unique street 427, but here's mine altered in photoshop only to remove all the SC trimmings. Hmmm...

Let's see some pics of yours or your favorite 427/428 street roadsters.

I think the best solution would be to have one of each.

That way you could pick the street or S/C, depending on your mood that day.

Never, not for one second, have I ever thought the SC looked anywhere near as good as the Street version. Took me a long time to find one with no sidepipes or roll bar. I am in the process right now of completeing the look, just recieved my correct gas cap from Mickmate, getting ready to cut out the hood scoop and lemans gas cap. Need to find a splitter and redo my dash layout.
Just finished redoing the undercar exhaust and am putting on the heat shielding this evening, hopefully have the exhaust hung by the end of the weekend.

unfortunately it is a Contemporary, and you hate contemporary's, so no pictures for you....

Damn nice photoshop work there buzzboy!

Yup...street is mucho muy goodo.

I watched Gerry Hawkridge trying to figure out how to route for rear exhaust exits on a Kirkham up on the stands at provo a few years back. Heard the work "fok" a few times to indicate frustration.

I'm not converting but I am building my ERA as a Black Street Roadster. Hope to paint it in two weeks. Had a hard time finding photos of a Black one for inspiration but I did find this on U-tube. If the owner is here I hope they don't mind my posting it.

Please post the pics! I have no hate for Contemporarys at all - they are top quality replicas and have stood around the top of the heap of 'glass Cobras for many years. I've only taken issue with the statement that they are the most accurate. They may well have been before the "tweaks", but it is what it is...and who cares what I think anyway - Pics!!

People say that to me all the time bigga brother, and I always wondered what it meant.

I've been wrestling with the "look" of my Cobra. My mind is finally made up. Street it is! Now just to decide on a color. Great thread.

I am working on cast manifolds for the under car exhaust. I could have bought a set from a well known canadian cobra shop at $4000.00. Well to spend 10% of the cars value on two manifolds was not in the cards.
A customer of mine has a real 427 street cobra and he had stripes, pipes, hoops and scoopes and I was razing him to bring it back to original and he did. The car looks so good in its original dark green.
The cheap cast log manifold for the fe engine will work with spacers, I am having them made at the my local machine shop. No more side pipes for me.

Thanks,

The color is Portofino Blue. It is one of Superformance's standard colors. It is not however one of their more popular colors. Fine with me. I love it.

"Different strokes for different folks". I'll take my car just the way it is. If we were all the same...

So many of these pictures are framed and when building my car were all around our shop and entertainment room. The more I looked at those with belly exhaust the more it made sense for me to do the same.Once my car was on it's tires loved the clean lines without side exhaust,so out the back it went.In the end the wife and I love the look, sound and riding around without having to scream at each other over the exhaust. The car will always make it's statement no matter where the noise makers are located.

This original blue beauty was at the Simeone museum last month.

Sorry for the picture quality. I was so excited about going that I forgot my camera and had to use my iphone.
