Default "New 1965 Mustang"

"Ford Motor Co. will soon sell brand-new 1965 Ford Mustangs for just $15,000 each. The only hitch: There's some assembly required.

As part of its Ford Reproduction business, Ford revealed today it had approved a new stamping of the steel bodies for first-generation Mustang that buyers could then build into their own 1964 1/2 through 1966 Mustang, using whatever engine, axles, interior and other parts they can find on their own."

Ford reintroduces the 1965 Mustang - Yahoo! Autos

How cool is that?..

Jim

Body panel fitment has been an issue for the 67/68 fastback body. Also in California, unless you have an original 1965 Mustang convertible VIN from a car no longer on the road to do a "re-body", you will need to title them using SB100.

I have a 66 coupe that was converted to a fastback using dynacorn panels. It is completely rust free and a great car, however the panels do have the same issues as the originals (rear trunk lid misalignment with the fender extension, headlight bucket conture misalignment with the fender, etc.). This also gets past the vin issue, but the biggest thing you have to consider is the cost of every little nut, bolt, clip, trim, latch, etc., etc., etc. Figure to complete that car is 3x the cost of the body. Then you need paint...

Wouldn't it be cheaper to just buy an original?
