BF Goodrich Radial TA tires help!

Does anyone knows wher can I get these tires:
BF Goodrich T/A Radial rubber [P265/50Rx15" in front; P295/50Rx15 rear].
I was able to find the 295's but the 265 are impossible in BF Goodrich.

Get the 245 60R 15's They should be correct for the fronts. (those tires are as hard as cookies)

I suggest you save your energy and stop looking for those tires. As a former user of them, I can tell you they have the grip of hard plastic and are scary on one of these cars.

There are MANY threads on this forum about suitable 15" tires. Some of the best are considerably more expensive than the BFGs, but they're cheaper than body work and paint (or worse).

I use to have the Bf-Goodrich T/A's on my car..I thought they were fine since I hadn't driven on anything else. Nothing to really compare against.

I recently had to buy new tires because the front tires had really bad seperation on the tread/side developing huge bubbles. They were over 7 years old anyhow. I decided to buy some Cooper Cobras from Summitracing. 295 for the rear and 235 upfront. My cobra is only a street driver so I went with another radial tire.

I've had few "oh **** " situations on the hard rubber BF-goodrichs..They are worse when the temps get colder too.

I can't begin to tell you the difference in drive comfort and traction with the switch. I'm not even running on high end tires..I can only imagine the comfort and traction going to the upper tier/quality tires..

I will never go back to the BF-Goodrich tires..They are ok tires but there are alot better out there for just a little more in cost.

Consider the Marshall tyre, made by Kuhmo.
Middle of the range expense wise, nice looking tread pattern and available in 245/60X15 and 295/50X15.
You really don't need 265s on the front. I have 295/50s on the rear and255/60s on the front at the moment and I'll be changing down to a 245/60 in a few months after I get through the Christmas spending period.

BFGs have hard tread rubber which wears like iron. Unfortunately this wonderful wear results in very poor traction. I got rid of mine years ago.

If you haven't done already, I'd suggest contacting TIRE RACK. I ordered a set of spares through them since they're so hard to find. I don't know if TIRE RACK has them in stock (I had my spares on order with them for over a year until they finally became available), but it's worth checking. Granted, the BFG's are hard, but I've learned to work with them. And they're very reasonably priced.

Tis is very enligthening. I am using now what came with the car Cooper Cobras and they are ok. I had the car up to 110mmph this past summer and they were great. I like the looks of the BFG. I had them in all my SUV and other cars and swear by them. Yes I realize that they are hard you are all right. Let's see what happens in the near future. I had a bad experience with the Kumhos in my 1967 Volvo 1234 GT and got rid of them for Michelins. I wish Michelin would had these tires.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, I have lost count of the number of tires I have put on my Cobra over the last 25 years. Must be at least 12 sets plus the odd replacement when I did something stupid. The worst, by far are the Goodyear TA's. The hard compound is only suitable for heavy trucks.

As a sideline hobby, I sometimes buy Insurance Auto Auction salvage cars and fix them up. Once in a while, I see a wrecked Cobra kit car. They invariably have Goodyear TA's on them. [Correction: Goodrich TA's] It pays to learn from other people's mistakes.

i run the copper cobras now on my cobra. its the first set of tires since i have it on the road this year. they seem good for general street tires/etc. they are more available than the goodrich t/a. i have 295 and 265 15's on it.

i do want to get the avon's or goodyear billboards though

I searched and searched and the only 265 50 15's I could find were
Hankook's. They don't make a 305 but they make a 295 that's just as wide as the BFG Euro TA's I took off. Decent tire and good price. Would have liked to have gone with Avons, but $465 each was just too much.

Donunder mentioned Kuhmo tires called Marshall, but I can't find anything on the Kuhmo or Tire Rack websites called Marshall.

Does it have a differnt name/number in the USA?

i think i have an almost new set of 265's.......let me check the size to be sure, they were on my cobra on the front 8" rims.....i also have the rears were mounted on 10" rims i believe they are the 295's

I have BFG's as well. I went for a ride this weekend in NY, the temps were high 30's low 40's and was it scary. the tires were breaking loose mid gear with 1/2 throttle.

I am ready for rears, but the fronts are like new. I dont want to spend the money but I think I am going to change all 4 this spring to a different tire to be safe.

The BFG's are awful in the rain, if you happen to get caught... be careful. I fishtailed with 1/8 throttle on a curve this past summer.

i think its safe to say any tire you put on one of these cars will be scary in the rain. any throttle but an idle gets me sideways. i've had BFG's Mich goodyear MT......when it rains i pull over put on the tonneau and wait..

I had the BFG Radial TA tires on my Cobra. The fronts were 255/60 15 and the rear was the 295/50 15. The rears were pretty dangerous in my opinion for a Cobra unless the plan is to just look at the car. They do last a long time and they don't throw too many stones.

The best tire for fun in my opinion hands down is the Mickey Thompson ET street drag radial in the 275/60 15 for the rear. They stick like glue and don't throw stones for normal street use unless they get too hot from highway high speed long term driving.
