Default Cobras in Canada

Soo Im thinking of selling the Butler 427 and just curious as to what others thoughts were on a cobra in Canada? You cant import a car into Canada from the US which many people don't understand. Do you think that because if this issue, a car of this nature my be worth more here than in the states? Dont get me wrong ...I know that you can buy a FFR up here but I have also heard stories of guys having a tough time registering these cars ? thoughts?

Thanks ...Like to hear from guys in Canada too

Scuffy
To import a Cobra into Canada it must be at least 15yrs old. If your a Canadian looking for a Cobra it's much easier to buy one already in Canada, that's what I did. The only issue is you MUST register it as a "Kit". Generally speaking Cobra's are higher priced in Canada. Good luck with your sale.

Scufty,

The price of all cars is generally higher in Canada, new ones and collector cars. It's a relic of our previously low dollar, and market forces.

Yes, I think your Butler Cobra would likely be worth more in Canada than in the U.S. But you should also consider this:
  • the market for Cobras is much smaller here
  • prices vary widely (from mid-$20s to over $100K)
  • Cobras take a long time to sell regardless
  • there are many Cobras already for sale in Canada (SPFs, FFRs, et al.)
  • your Butler may be older than many of them

There are plenty of places to list your Cobra for sale, but in my experience, word of mouth and the "Cobra community" works best at finding serious buyers rather than just tire kickers, test drivers and dreamers.

There was a guy from Alberta on here a few weeks ago, who said he was getting serious about buying a Cobra. You might want to try connecting with him, as he's in your neck of the woods.
