Illinois Registration or nightmare
Wow! Is my only comment on the Illinois registration process.
I received another road block from the SOS police office and a tax penalty because of the misinformation from the SOS offices.
I acted on instructions from the Lombard SOS facility and made the car driveable for inspection before registration. This took about 3 weeks. Then I was told to contact the SOS police office for registration. Forms were sent and promptly returned. Turns out the ST44 tax form(if tax is over $600) is required to be filed within 30 days of car delivery and purchase.
Now the SOS police office is telling me that I have to write, in my build explanation, who built the frame and body of the Shell Valley kit.
I guess the Shell Valley build sheet, and the Manufacturer Certificate of Origin and all receipts for this aren't clear enough on these details.
Serve and Protect slogan really needs to be changed to Aggravate and Frustrate.
I guess the upside is that after 2 1/2 months of BS this will all be done in 2012 and I won't have to pay for 2011 plates.
