Upholstery finishing washers redux.
Hi all. After my last post regarding chrome finishing washers with the solid backs (not cupped as they cut into the vinyl/leather) as used on the original Cobras, I found some billet aluminum solid backed finishing washers on ebay and ordered some. They were very nicely done and would polish up nicely but were a bit too big in OD for my liking.
So back to finding some of the finishing washers. The originals I have were bought years ago from Motorsports International in San Diego. They do not seem to be in business any longer.
So back to the hardware store while scratching my head for an idea.
Well I think I found one which may not be original but...... I took regular SS finishing washers (with the cupped backs) and found some small fat o-rings which fit in the finishing washer backs perfectly and about 1/32'' higher than the finishing washer.
This should "cushion" the finishing washers so they don't cut into the vinyl/leather.
I'll let you know how it works.
Cheers
Greg
