Default BRE: " The Hottest Cobra Events for 2012 "

The following was taken directly from The BRE Cobra Newsletter, published via e-mail at no charge by Gayle & Peter Brock, as of Feb 13

The Hottest Cobra Events for 2012

How we see the events shaping up for this 50th year
With this year being the 50th Anniversary of the Cobra there are a lot of events planned. We've been trying to monitor and gauge which will be the "biggies" (e.g. the best Shelby American personnel and car turn-outs. The four that seem to be rising to the top are (in date order):

Amelia Island Concours Mar 9-11th. No matter what this Concours' is featuring, it's always on our "can't miss" list. For the Cobras this year I'll be on the panel Friday for the Ferrari vs. Cobra, The Battle for the World Championship for Sports Cars Seminar. There will also be a nice selection of Cobras at the Concours'.

Next comes the Ford-Shelby-Cobra Reunion at the NHRA Motorsports Museum in Pomona, CA April 19th thru 21st. There's not a lot of public information out on this event yet but what we're seeing behind the scenes is impressive. There will be a huge gathering of ex-Shelby American employees (it's autograph time!) and a large gathering of Cobras. There will be an Aerovault trailer at the entrance to the museum where we'll have a tent/table with product (including those impressive Registries) and a space for my Coupe.

Even though we can't make it due to a conflict with Le Mans, the SAAC convention (Shelby American Automobile Club) has big plans this year. It'll take place at Watkins Glen on June 7-9th. Don't miss it!

Last but certainly not least is the Monterey Motorsports Reunion (formerly called the Monterey Historics) at Laguna Seca August 17th thru 19th. With Cobra being this year's marque, this is the biggest of the big events. We'll have a huge presence there with our booth and a group of Cobra Daytona Coupes we're gathering together to be parked in the Cobra Corral at the track. Coupes that make it into town by Wed noon will also be showcased at the Wed night McCall Motorworks Revival at the Monterey Jet Center (tickets are pricey but it's the best people watching you'll see all week and then there are all those military planes (and personnel) in addition to the cool cars).

I would almost believe that the event at Pomona will be a far better event, especially since the "Legends" will be there. Plus, there will be track time available on the old nostalgic Pomona road course. Can't wait!

Just a rough guess but it looks like there will be 8 Cobras going to the April 19 Pomona Reunion from Las Vegas. FYI it's $75.00 for the Show and Shine not bad. tip, get a room rez now or you will be staying in the next county.

If you bump into Peter at the table don't ask about his off road experiance with the coupe. or maybe... it's up to you.

8 cars from Vegas sounds GREAT! It is a great value as well for the car shows! I'm not worried about a hotel room because I'm staying in the pits in a motorhome. However, I do believe that if you reach Lynn Rose soon, she may have saved a block of rooms at the Sheraton at a special rate. Hold on, this is going to be the BIG ONE!!!
