Yours is a great car, and I meant no offense to you, but you have to admit, buying a hand built custom car like the Cobra is not as cut and dry as it would be walking into a showroom and picking up a new Corvette. You just never know what you are going to get without extensive and up to date documentation.

Congrats on your sale, now what are you going to replace it with?

Thank you. I've seen many posts advising to only buy an 'ERA-built' car vs. an owner build.
I take great exception to that idea. Surely some examples of any manufacturer's car are poorly owner-built. It takes a thorough study and understanding of the car's content and care of assembly to not get hurt buying one. You've gotta do the homework.
But there are cars that meet or exceed ERA's assembly quality and are updated with the newest improved parts developed by the New Britain guys. As well as other aftermarket suppliers like Mike Bontoft (now sadly gone from business) Brian Higgins, my 'no-name' machinist Jim Schutz and by buddy J. Hechinger, long-time painter of aircraft. They each helped make mine a labor of love. The beauty of an ERA is precisely that--easily adding the latest improvements to an older build.
A credit to Bob, Peter and Phil, the engineering is first rate and constantly improving the product.
Replace it?--possibly a cane with red tip...

Seems to me that if your not an engine and car guy, I mean by that one that can not build or fix the car himself, stick to a manufactured production cobra. If your a good mechanic and can build a car...you will be able to determine on your own if the home build is a good one.
ERA's are one of the best around and enjoy great resale value.

Uhhh, there's still time to reconsider the sale and put a second roll bar in. Now you probably wouldn't see it as much so it might not bug you....

Chas,
Congrats on the sale. When I saw the photo link someone posted here on this thread, and all the banter going on here about this vs. that, it was fun to see how the discussion quickly changed gears to "someone better buy that car before its gone". You even had existing ERA owners wanting to buy it.

I think whoever buys it should just give it back to him.

Relax pal. I said "Your first-born for the Halibrands, yes or no?"
Long pause.
I said "well?"
"I'm thinking, I'm thinking!" he shouted!
HaHaHaaa.

All I have to say is that the person or persons buying your ERA better FREAKIN' appreciate those wheels.

It would add insult to injury if the buyer cares less about those wheels.

I'm hastily working on making one side pipe polished and one side black for the man.
He's happy with my wheel presentation...
My title is incorrect. It's The Cobra Orifice.
