Default 306 crate engine

Anyone using the 306/340hp crate engine that Ford has been advertising? Forged parts except maybe the crank. It has the X aluminum heads. At $3,495 it looks pretty good. Any comments?

I have a 2006 345 horsepower 302 Ford Racing Parts crate engine. Mine doesn't have forged pistons but it has the aluminum heads and the "B" cam.

I've got around 17,000 miles on it without any problems. (It doesn't burn or leak any oil or coolant.) I think the Ford Racing crate engines are a great option.

We have used two of them, one in a new Superformance Roadster and one to repower a F5 that was brought to us with a terminally ill 302.

The crate long block is built with some really good parts and is a good value if you don't need a bazzilion horsepower.

Have one in my b&b roadster. Good value and good power for the money. Complete dressed engine under 5500.
