Jack Mogus (Blackjack) has one, but due to the fire in his house, he has not had access to email. Send me an email, and I'll give you his phone number.

Thanks Scott!

1996- #106

That's what I'm looking for.

There's a discrepency as to how many were produced.

estimates range from 109 - 340.

Not sure why Im obsessed with this...must be a sympyom of this "Cobra Disease" I acquired!

I'm interested in learning what I can about Excalibur...before it's ancient history!

Any facts or literature would be appreciated!

Tom

not to distort the thread here by heading in another direction (seems to be the MO for many) , but wasn't AUTOKRAFT (AK) in the 80's ALSO DOT certified and EPA compliant ? B

Wink ???????

IF I'M NOT MISTAKEN, SCOTT'S CAR IS 106 WHICH IF THEY FOLLOWED ALL GUIDELINES, THE LAST THREE DIGITS WERE PRODUCTION NUMBERS WHICH MADE HIS CAR THE SIXTH CAR MADE, NOT THE 106TH CAR MADE. THIS MAY HELP YOU WITH THE DISCREPANCY OF THE NUMER PRODUCED.

MOST VIN NUMBERS INFER THAT THE LAST 4 DIGITS WERE THE PRODUCTION NUMBERS. KNOWING SCOTT'S NUMBER INDICATES THAT THEY USED THE LAST 3 NUMBERS AS PRODUCTION AND MAYBE THE 4TH AS A YEAR NUMBER.

HEY WHAT THE HECK DO I KNOW???? FOR A BEER OR 24 I WILL GET THE ANSWER

OKAY FOR THE EDIT, AFTER RE READING, NOTICE THE SERIAL NUMBER...FIRST 3 NUMBERS ARE 123. NO ONE WOULD NOTICE A 0006 AS THE MODEL BUT WOULD PAY ATTENTION TO 3106, NOT KNOWING THAT THE CARS WITH THAT PRODUCTION NUMBER WOULD HAVE TO BE CRASH TESTED.

ALSO NOTICE THAT THE NUMBER OF DIGITS IN THE SERIAL NUMBER CORRESPONDS WITH THE NUMBER OF DIGITS OR LETTERS THAT WERE USED IN THE SIXTIES CARS...NO LESS THAN 5 NO MORE THAN 7. GO FIGURE????

JAY

Jay,

24 beers??? is that a "Texas 6 pack"?

Appreciate any additional help/info.

I've since found out that indeed the last 3 digits are the production #.

The 123 is a "unique Identifier", along with the 1st 3 digits
(Excalibur's World Manufacturer Identifier code;as assigned by the Society of Automotive Engineers), that identifies the manufacturer, make & type of motor vehicle.

The "M" denotes the plant of manufacturer: Milwaukee

I've recently located a 1993= #005... therefore I have to assume that Scott's is a 1996=#106.

I'm anxious to locate others and confirm production #s

Excalibur owners...where are you?

Tom

Hi Tom,

I have a 96 Excalibur Cobra # M123141. It' a 302. Not long ago I visited the plant. Took the car home for a visit, so to speak. They are still in business, but not making cars anymore. I must say they were very friendly and helpfull. Main product is very high end enclosed motorcycle trailors. Several of the people from the very beginning of the company are still there. Because I have no documentation with the car, I was interested in the origin of as many of the parts as possible. Below is a list of what I was told verbally. This may be of interest to other owners, although I'm not sure the parts origin was consistent over the course of production. All of their original records were lost during a computor changeover.

Has an 8.8" Ford rear end..
Rear brakes are probably 94 Mustangs.
Front brakes are 79 Granada.
Catalytic Converters are 94 Mustang but are custom cut.
It has a reinforced windshield for rollover.
Rear springs come from Dales race shop. 175 # rating.
Front are Carrera coil over springs and shocks.
Steering column is a Chevy S-10 pickup
Steering rack is from a 79 Mustang 2.
Finish Line has all sorts of after market parts and will probably have the Lucas taillight assemblies.
The entire interior was made at Excalibur.
The radiator is special. Was made at Scotty's Radiator Shop in Milwaukee.
The temp gauge runs about 20 deg high. The engine normally runs at about 190 degrees.
Goodyear on Hwy. 100 and National can do front end alignment.
A 1 drive shaft built the driveshaft.
The compressor on the air conditioner is stock but all the lines are custom.
The brake master cylinder came from NAPA but no one knows who made it.
The top hose is a 94 Mustang hose cut to fit.
The lower hose is a universal radiator hose.
The alarm cuts out the fuel pump, the starter and the ignition. It cannot be bypassed. You can not get duplicate keys. There was a red master key that can be used to reprogram the gray keys if you have the instructions. Made by Hella.

Hope the info is helpful. Let me know how many owners you find. The factory says they built about 200 units, but the number varies depending who you talk to.

Hi Tom,

mine is a 1995 VIN #123074
engine: 302
rear end: Ford 9"
wheels: Compomotiv

There are about 10 more over here in Germany, and I know 5 of them. I'll let you know as soon as I find out some details.

I'm very interested in a complete parts list as soon as you get all the information together.

Default Excalibur Production Numbers?

My best guess so far is that only 151 Excalibur JAC Cobras were
produced.

I've confirmed:

#003
#020
#106
#141
#144
#146
#147
#150

LAST...Titled as a 2002 (referred to as the "R&D" Cobra as it was built witha 4.6L Cobra engine,T 45, 4 wheel independant susp.)
...Get this... $190K+ invested!!!

It's true...Excalibur no longer produces automobiles...Though they were EPA compliant, it seems that the DOT requirement to perform CRASH tests was the final straw!

JAC could not justify building 3 cars for the sole purpose of CRASHING!

An "Exemption" was given for the final cars "in production"

Some of the last may have been shipped to Europe...Eric,,I'm anxious to confirm those production #'s.

Excalibur presently builds those sleek cargo trailers.

Additional info is welcome!

Wink STILL LOOKING

HELLO TOM,

AS A FOLLOW-UP TO MY E-MAIL TO YOU EARLIER, I HAVE NOT AS YET HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO GET TO MY CARS. I HAVE TO DO THAT SOON BECAUSE I NEED TO GET THE NUMBERS OF ALL THREE CARS TO GET THE TITLES RE-ISSUED BY DMV.

I HOPE TO BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THAT THIS WEEKEND. MY CARS ARE IN VIENNA AND I'M STAYING WITH MY SON IN ASBURN, VA. I'LL POST THE NUMBERS JUST AS SOON AS I GET THEM.

ADDITIONALLY - - - IF ANYONE HAS MANUALS OR DOCUMENTATION OF ANY SORT RELATING TO THE EXCALIBUR COBRAS IT WOULD BE GREAT IF WE COULD PULL RESOURCES AND HAVE COPIES MADE FOR INTERESTED OWNERS. THE ONLY THING THAT I HAVE LEFT (THAT WASN'T LOST IN THE FIRE) IS THE 5" X 8" OPERATORS MANUAL - - ABOUT 20 PAGES OR SO.

BY THE WAY - - THANKS VERY MUCH FOR TAKING THE TIME TO CO-ORDINATE THIS PROJECT.

Y'ALL HAVE A REALLY GREAT DAY,

BLACKJACK
