In that sense, correct. They painted the Comp or S/C to order...explaining the unique variety of strange colors on original-owned cars....Gold, Buick Silver, Orange, Sapphire Blue, etc.

May be wrong on this but I don't think the S/C cars had map pockets in the doors like the Street Roadsters. Most Street Roadsters with 427s were center oilers. Were most S/C cars side oilers - that seems to be the implication?

As most of the replicas are now, I think many original Cobras were a compromise. Very seldom have I seen a pure street or pure S/C Cobras, although some restorations have reverted to one or the other. If I recall correctly, reports of dealers adding, removing, or changing certain parts from the Shelby 427 Cobras was the norm. The SAAC guys have more info on this subject I'm sure. I love the way my own ERA is outfitted, a combination Street-S/C. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks Bruce. I have seen 160's, 180's, CW and CCW's in the street cars. I wonder what was most common, surely an availability problem for high winding speedos back in the day.

My car was an early 427, I suspect that later cars took some liberties with parts since the cars were not selling and Ford was pressuring Shelby to move them at the lowest cost possible Sunburst wheels, 428 engines etc.

What about wet sump verses dry sump setups?? I know the oil filler was in the r/s fender with a small cap. I thought there was a couple of different steering ratios. What about brake ducts for rearend? Wild about wheels had a comp car in red. Rick Ps SC could be
supercharged
super cobra
silly car
Shelbys Crazy
etc,....

...certainly not "supercharged"

Dry Sump was an option on the Comp cars, and only a handful were ever built that way.

Comp and S/C did have a set of 'glas cooling ducts for the rear brakes.

Street had soft tops, grease gun, toolkit and jack. I wonder if the SC's came with the toolkit. Dry sumps on two cars I have seen was an eclectic collection of parts a lot of which were fabricated to suit and also borrowed from the GT40 parts bins.

I have found that S/C's did come with "a" toolkit...may not have been identical to the AC wrap-kit, though.

Hey Ron, aside from a FAQ, how about a 'Library of Skulls' like on Land of the Lost. When someone seeks the truth, like features of a S/C, Street, 289, production numbers, OE, etc, one could go to the subforum with such succinct write ups with pics?
