Default Fast N Loud Discovery Channel show

Wednesday June6, 2012. A friend of mine, Richard Rawlings has a new show that airs at10 Eastern 9 central. I have been consulting since filming started three months ago.

Please give me some feedback if you see it.... And yes he is the same way in real life.

P.S. I will not start appearing on the show until episode two or three.

Jay,

I saw the commercial for Fast-N-Loud last Sunday while watching Discovery HD. I have my recorder set to record it every Wednesday.

From my two occasions of meeting Richard, I am still perplexed where they found a camera big/fast enough to film him.

Fast N' Loud (TV show)

summary pictures news cast forum

"Fast N' Loud" (TV show) is a classic car series on Discovery Channel.

Most people think the countless number of vintage vehicles rusting in overgrown fields, abandoned back lots, and musty garages across America are just junk. But for automotive mastermind Richard Rawlings and mechanical prodigy Aaron Kaufmann, these cars — from '57 Chevys to '73 Trans Ams — are goldmines. The show follows Rawlings and Kaufmann as they return these derelict rides to their former glory and get them back on

the road — but not without putting their own spin on them first.

Richard and Aaron need big projects — and big profits — to keep Gas Monkey's doors open. Together, they travel the back roads of Texas, scouring barns, swap meets and open fields in search of rare rides to restore. Once Richard wheels and deals for a good price, the real work begins back at the garage, where the guys race against the clock to finish the job in time for auction. Time is money at Gas Monkey Garage — and Richard and Aaron can't afford to lose either.

"Fast N' Loud" is produced for Discovery Channel by Pilgrim Studios. Craig Piligian ("American Chopper," "Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe") and Eddie Rohwedder are executive producers. For Discovery, Craig Coffman is executive producer.

Hey Jay!

How are things going down there? It was nice meeting you at the TCC meet! You people down there know how to have a great time!

I watched the show last night and really enjoyed it. I grew up in an old salvage yard so I can relate! I have done this type of thing for years, so I love to see guys getting some air time and recognition for their efforts! Tell them nice job from me

Watched it last night, didnt hate it but didnt love it either. Reminded me of desert car kings. Not so much about the cars as the people.

Jay,

I have seen two episodes, a Model A was the main feature in one and an Olds in the other. There was a Rivera and 54 Chevy as I recall as secondary cars in these episodes.

Tough to come up with something original given the vast number of reality shows … Deadliest Catch, Gold Rush, American Chopper and Desert Car Kings just to mention a few.

Take the Model A episode for example, for me a bit more time spent showing the disassembly and restoration would have been more interesting. Maybe even showing what was done with some of the original take off parts (fenders and the like) … hopefully not just tossed in the recycle heap.

They did a nice job with the Model A, bigger wheels & tires along with an upgrade to the brakes but still true to the spirit of the car. Don't necessarily need to turn it into a 'how to show', but add some more content into the 'car part' of the program.

Just my .02

Off to a good start, good luck with the show!

I like it. Why did they cut the oil pan instead of getting a rear sump pan for the gaser. Not as much mechanical as desert car kings. The one guy beard drives me nuts, makes him look 65 years old. They should focus on building instead of flipping junk cars for entertainment, may not be as profitable.

Jay,

I enjoy watching the show. Richard's got a big personality and looks like a fun guy to have a few beers with. I know the formula for these shows is to inject some drama, but I'm not buying the "deadlines" and the time period it takes to build one of their cars. IIRC, they were supposed to have built that Ford gasser in a week, paint and all. And I'm not sure I'd want to take a car down the track that a buch of guys were under that kind of time pressure to complete. Nevertheless, it's entertaining and I'll continue to watch.

Yea, I hate the phoney deadlines....seems like they could come up with some other real life excuse to hurry the project. In realty these projects take much longer and there are always compromises. Hollywood has no idea what real drama is! A bunch of millionaires that couldn't tell the difference between an enema and a oil change.

I have met Richard and what you see is pretty much what you get but I have a little trouble with the drama. I promised Jay I would watch the show last night but I had to work. DANG IT!

Default Thanks guys

For all of the input and criticism. I thought this would be a fun project and it has certainly been that. The main theme was to show just how Richard does things and Aaron (mini zz) works. Actually those are the only realities of this "reality" show. Richard has always been this way in the seven years we have known each other. You might not believe it but he is an ex cop. We have bought and sold lot.s of cars together. Some flips, some builds and some brokered. We hold at least one world record for the highest price ever received for a 1953 Buick Skylark.

As to the reality of times frames on the show.....yeah right. As to whether or not the cars actually are sold or not....yeah right. Rick, as to the safety issue of the gasser... Considering it had no front brakes, roll bars from muffler tubes, racing seat we pulled off of Chinese taxi pit vehicle, ten tear old seat belts, and a few other teenie tiny issues....you just might be right.

As for the Aaron in his underwear thing, google Richard Rawlings images. Just saying. He is a little left of center but he is good at it.

It is all in fun. At least we do not act like we are stranded in a swamp, on camera, worrying about how we are ever going to get out.

Fun show to watch, kind of corny, and sort of scrappy builds and poor quality stuff. Kind of like the Beverly Hillbillies auto repair shop. I'd like to see some better quality cars being built that folks would actually buy and be proud of.

Just sayin, I can't wait for the next show.

ps. maybe you can get Mike Roe to help build a barn find that he found.

Cashburn, very few caught that. Considering the scripting is done on the spot, it just depends if everyone is on their meds or not

Bill do a google on a Woodill Wildfire. Caught me off guard too. The show will be progressing and morphing as we go.

Thanks for watching.

Just a side note ... 267 tee shirts sold on Sunday alone $$$$$

I saw the truck and Lincoln at the auction north of Houston in person. Neither were ready for auction, the truck really needed lots of details completed and the Lincoln had some issues, also. I don't think they would have sold for nearly what they sold for had it not been for the hype.

Default Having a ball

Hype is everything with this scenario. Fifteen new episodes now under contract. Possible bike build off being discussed. Possibly a new fabricator to work with Aaron (beautiful blond). Ever thought about Gasmonkey v. Ferrari. In the works already. The show has a better following than expected.

Quite an experience.

Jay,
I ran across this show the other night and thought it was interesting.
Didn't know you were involved until I noticed your thread title.
Good luck!
