CA SF Bay Area: Canepa and Coffee, this Sat Aug 11
This Saturday Bruce Canepa of Canepa Design hosts "Canepa and Coffee" at his business location in Scotts Valley, CA.
Okay, so the coffee is "no-host", but the woman at the espresso machine makes a gnarly espresso drink.
Mr. Canepa opens his doors and provides a tour, and there is plenty of shop floor to wander around and see some very cool stuff---including a restoration in progress of the very first Deusenburg (sp?), and there are some pretty cool machines that show up in the parking lot as well. Seems like every time I go there there is an original Shelby Cobra going through a restoration, so sometimes you catch them with their skin off!
Canepa Design
Let's see the Shelby Cobras there in force!
Cheers,
DD

Doug,
Sounds good. I spoke to Tim this afternoon and he's going to attend.
I took a look at Canepa's website and the event runs from 8:00 am to Noon. Tim and I talked about maybe meeting for breakfast or coffee before we drive over to Canepa. Maybe the Starbuck's on Mt. Hermon Rd. at 8:00 or 8:30 am?

Hey, for breakfast I highly recommend Auntie Mame's. It's on the corner of Scotts Valley Drive and Mt. Hermon Road (on the high-side corner with the white fence around the parking lot). Let me know what you guys are going to do and I'll try to join you.
Meeting at Starbuck's is fine with me---but I did want to tell you about Auntie Mame's. Great food. Let me know what you decide.
Cheers,
DD

For those that are interested in driving over together, will meet in Saratoga at the 76 gas station or Starbucks at 7:15 and leave for Scotts Valley at 7:30.
Should get there around 8:00

Hey, Guys! Great to see you at Canepa. That replica Ferrari had us all fooled. What a beautiful car, though. Sounded amazing, too.
Always cool to wander around Canepa Design. Very cool to see the progress on that Deusenburg!

You know, I got to thinking about that Ferrari replica and found myself wondering, "Maybe that was a real Ferrari and the owner was just messing with us Cobra relica owners...."
Nah!
Check this out: 1960 MODENA 250GT CALIFORNIA SPYDER
You know, I always thought if it wasn't a Cobra for me it would be a Beck Lister-Corvette. Not so anymore. After seeing that beautiful replica it would have to be one of those. VERY COOL!

Great breakfast at Auntie Mame's, then to Canpea's periodic summer open house. Quite a range of cars as always from vintage racers to exotics, interesting cars inside and out.
Here is the 90's Ferrari replica mentioned above, looks pretty convincing at first glance. Powered by a 289 and it sounded good (Ansa exhaust) as it pulled away ... obviously not the same as a V12

Nice shots Tim. I see you've gone to the double width bar....a quick and easy changeover?
That Ferrari replica looks convincing.
Cheers,
Glen

Thanks guys, feels really good to finally be on the road!
Now that I have swapped the roll bar a few times, it's pretty easy to go back and forth between the standard width bar to full width bar. I coated the slip fit parts with a thin layer of white grease, I can make the change over in about half an hour. It is however definitely a two person job.

Hey, how about those very cool PIAA's tucked into my FIA's snout! Blinding bright, they make a very nice supplement to the high beams on those midnight night rides!
