High flowing and loud as I can get it (radical as all hell too)...I like kicking off alarms and not being able to hear anyone when I shut the engine off...hell, I can't hear now anyway due to the "LOUD" music from yesteryears...

where did you get the mufflers from? Looking to do the same on mine.

I got them from Stainless Specialties. http://www.stainless-specialties.com/ Took about 1 1/2 weeks because they were backed up on orders. Great quality and sound. Talk with John.

Although some said 3" ID would be too loud, I think they sound just right. But I have a 302. If you running a bigger motor it may be too loud:

I had the Stainless Specialties on mine with 460 and it was great. But then I'm deaf as a post according to my wife.

It was the three inch core. Not sure on the louver direction, and they were 24 inches in length.

Mine were 27" long not counting the turnout or the 3" inlet pipe. I couldnt really tell the direction of the louvers but I already had the turn outs welded on by SS. But you could easily roll a baseball thru it.

thanks gentlemen, I'm thinking 27"+ length with the 3" core, louvers forward, and experiment with putting small spiral inserts into the 3 1/2" tip section like these: Spiral Turbo Specialties:

My exhaust guy says, if you face the louvres forward, it will burn out the matting inside.?

Active Exhaust offers the best of both worlds . Loud as Race Exhaust and Mellow as a Street Exhaust...
Systems for GT40 and 427SC are going to be offered on DPS Products web site (under construction). I have a vid clip of one system. Their system (patend pending) has changes in sound levels 3 - 4 DB. They also retain stock diameter,and vintage looks.

I can send it to anyone that would like to see it.

IIRC, the stainless specialties ones use a high temp ceramic matting, not fiberglas: can anyone verify?

Stainless Specialties uses a perforated core not a louvered core like most others, so it doesn't matter which way you install them. The matting is whatever John says it is. I'm not going to cut them open to find out, especially considering what they cost.

Lippy. I don't know what kind of car you are into but I have a FFR and after awhile, it got too loud for most anyone, enthusiasts included.....they wear out. So, I tried all sorts of 'quiet' solutions and for me, it either didn't do enough or too much, and I didn't want to lose any HP that I paid so dearly for in the beginning. So, I went to Lance Stander in Irvine and asked if he would sell me a set of SPF pipes? They are nice sounding, and just subtle enough to keep the noise acceptable. We had to "mod" them to get them
right but after 20K later, they still work great. Just FWIW.

Thanks, that's good info. Which pipes did you originally have on your FFR, and which SPF pipes did you replace them with?
