Chrome or black roll bar?

I seem to be getting some great insight from this forum on all of the options I'm considering, so here goes with one more.

My build:

• ERA 427
• Ferrari Blu Pozzi (dark/non-metallic) paint, no stripe, riveted scoop
• Black quick jacks
• Black interior
• Aluminum FIA wheels
• I will most likely go with flat black sidepipes, although I still am considering ceramic coated silver or undercar

It would be great to have your opinions/pix on Chrome vs. Black rollbar.

ONE roll bar,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,CHROME. Gives a nice contrast to the dark blue, I'd go with white sidepipes also.

This is totally a matter of personal taste, but since you asked... although I agree with the previous post that chrome will look good next to the dark blue, I would say that black will look better if you go with black sidepipes. If you go ceramic or undercar, then chrome rollbar. And, yes, one roll bar.

If you Google "Blue Cobra 427" and go to images, you'll see photos of blue Cobra's with all the combinations suggested. Maybe something will jump out at you - if so, go with it.

I second CSX3183 on the chrome contrasting with the dark blue.

I made an interesting observation at the Monterey Historic Auto Races this year, looking at the originals: most of the originals have strayed very far from "the way it was" to currently available technology. Braided stainless lines, and other things caught my attention. I saw my FIA's twin and it had a stroked 351 in it.
For all the emphasis on matching original spec's, I found few preserved and many taking advantage of modern equipment.

The point of all this is to say, even if you can't find a vintage photo of a 427 with a chrome roll hoop, if you want a chrome hoop then install a chrome roll hoop.

Do what you want with your Cobra's design, for the owners of original Cobras exercise that license as well.

I like your choices … your 427 ERA is going to look nice.

Overall the car will be dark, inside and out, so a bit of contrast here and there would be good.

For a 427, a chrome roll bar would be my suggestion and with that old school non metallic dark blue paint, some white side pipes would really pop and give a nice vintage look.

That being said, any of the above suggestions will look good too, you really can't make a bad choice here. And, if you want a change down the road, pipes and bars are all bolt on bits that are easily modified.

I'm going with indigo blue, dark silver stripes, silver ceramic pipes, dual chrome roll bar, chrome bumper jacks.

I don't think you can make this car look bad unless you are trying. Just pick a scheme that appeals to you and go with it. If you are going black pipes and bumper jacks, get a black roll bar, and dark stripes.

I went through the same thoughts.... then Unique Motorcars, my builder, pointed out the contrast as other did above... but also the windshield frame is chrome... so I'd go chrome unless you black out the windshield frame.

Your car, your choice, of course. But since you asked for opinions, I'd suggest you either go 1) all black (F/R quick jacks, sidepipes and rollbar) or 2) all chrome (F/R quick jacks, sidepipes and rollbar). Either way, the car will look spectacular.

Single roll bar and everything in stainless because it does not rust.

The only way I'd do the black roll bar is if it were ALL black trim (black windshield frame and black headlamp trims, everything black).

Otherwise, Vintage Motorsports has the combo. down perfect. If this doesn't sell you on the color combo, then I don't know what will! That little bit of chrome is perfect, especially when you consider all of the little chrome parts that you DON'T think about (mentioned above).
