Default Washers for banjo fittings on calipers

Hi all. Any wisdom on what are the best crush washers to use on brake caliper banjo fittings?

Copper or aluminum?

Cheers
Greg

Yeah, I had aluminum washers on but had a hard time stopping the leaks.

Copper it is.

Thanks
Greg

Make sure they are banjo washers (softer copper) and are sized to the banjo (metric or standard) thread size.

I've had good luck with the Earl's stat-o-seals. Search Results for stat-o-seal - SummitRacing.com

Hi CJ428CJ. Have you used the Earl's stat-o-seals on brake line banjo fittings?

I thought about these but wondered about the brake fluid affect on the rubber and about the pressure.

Cheers

Yes. I had a slow brake fluid leak that I couldn't get to stop with regular copper crush washers. I switched to the stat-o-seals and that solved the problem. It's now been leak free for the last 8 or 9 years.

Thanks Chris. I replaced the aluminum crush washers with copper and it seems to have done the trick. I'll order some stat-o-seals as a backup.
Cheers
